Background of the issue:
I followed the WPML's documentation to translate CUSTOM POST TYPE CATEGORIES. I went to WPML → Taxonomy Translation and used the drop-down menu to select which taxonomy to translate. I am trying to translate a MENU that contains taxonomies but they do not appear, even if they are translated. See attached video.
Symptoms:
The taxonomies in the MENU do not appear, even though they are translated. Error message: 'invalid' taxonomy. hidden link
Questions:
Why do the translated taxonomies not appear in the MENU?
How can I resolve the 'invalid' taxonomy error?
Thank you for contacting WPML Support. This issue usually happens when the taxonomy is created using ACF and “acf-taxonomy” post type is set as Translatable from WPML >> Settings > Post Types Translation section.
To fix this issue, can you please follow the below steps and see if this resolves the issue:
1. Please take a backup of your site first for safety reasons.
2. Please go to ACF >> Taxonomies page.
3. Delete the taxonomies from secondary languages if they exists there as you can see in the attached screenshot.
4. Go to the WPML >> Settings > Post Types Translation section and set the “Taxonomies (acf-taxonomy)” post type to “Not translatable”.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue or if you need further assistance with this issue.
Hello Noman.
Thank you for your answer, my issue is resolved.
One last question because I need to clarify this:
Setting the “Taxonomies (acf-taxonomy)” post type to “Not translatable” was necessary because I had already translated them through WPML → Taxonomy Translation?
