This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where an error message prompts to activate the WPML String Translation plugin despite it already being active. Additionally, there is broken HTML in the language switcher column on the 'Pages' screen in the WordPress admin.
Solution:
We recommend checking if there are any conflicts with other plugins or themes that might be causing this issue. You can do this by temporarily deactivating other plugins and switching to a default theme to see if the problem persists. If the issue is resolved, reactivate them one by one to identify the culprit. If the problem continues, please provide temporary access (admin account and/or staging environment) for further inspection.

Please note that the solution provided might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hello WPML Support Team,
We are experiencing an issue with WPML and would appreciate your assistance.

At some point, the following error message started appearing in the WordPress admin and has remained ever since:
“Please activate the WPML String Translation plugin to convert Rank Math Setting values in different languages.” However, the String Translation plugin is already active and has not been deactivated at any point since installation.

In addition, I’m seeing broken HTML in the language switcher column on the “Pages” screen in the WordPress admin. I will attach a screenshot to illustrate the issue.

Could you please help investigate what might be causing this behavior?
If needed, I can provide temporary access (admin account and/or staging environment) for further inspection.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

The notice is a false positive, so it’s safe to leave it as is. It should be resolved in a future release of the Rank Math SEO plugin, and it will disappear automatically once the fix is released.

If you prefer not to wait, you can apply the workaround:
https://wpml.org/errata/rank-math-seo-false-string-translation-activation-notice/

Otherwise, it’s perfectly fine to leave it until the official fix is released.
