Background of the issue:
I am trying to maintain connections between translations in different languages on my site hidden link. Previously, the German version was correctly linked as a translation from English.

Symptoms:
The connections between languages and their translations have disappeared for existing content, specifically in the DE column. However, new translations are working correctly.

Questions:
What could be the cause of the missing connections between existing translations?
Why are new translations working correctly while existing ones are not?

Hello There!
I hope you're doing well.

Before this thread is assigned to my colleague, I’d like to provide some initial guidance and potential solutions.

As you mentioned that the translations are working on the frontend but appear disconnected in the backend, it’s possible that the language information for the German posts hasn’t been correctly propagated, causing this issue. I noticed that there are around 197 posts currently available in the German language.

Could you please try the following steps and check if they help resolve the issue?

- Please go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting
- Click on the following buttons

-- Synchronize posts taxonomies [Select the Job post type and then click the button]
-- Clear the cache in WPML
-- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
-- Fix element_type collation
-- Fix WPML tables collation
-- Synchronize local job ids with ATE jobs
-- Synchronize translators and translation managers with ATE
-- Assign translation status to duplicated content
-- Set language information
-- Fix post type assignment for translations

- Once done clear the caches from your site and browser and then check again.

Please let us know how it goes. We'll be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Unfortunately that didn't help. I still don't see connections between the entries.
Could you check what's wrong?

Thanks for your reply.

I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.

Thanks for your reply.

I've checked and it looks like the translations are not connected at all. Not sure what causes this issue and there are a few methods we can do to troubleshoot or resolve this.

1. You can contact your hosting provider and ask them to restore the site to an earlier date so that we recheck this for you.

2. Reconnect the pages as shown in this screen recording. hidden link

3. Export both languages using the method here https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-export-and-import/ and then, reconnect it manually. Then, reimport it back to your Website.

Let me know what you think.
