Hi,
We have a site under development and we need to set it up with English as source language for the site for proper translations setup in CrowdIn Service.
But we'd like to change the default shown language when user first enters the site, for example in Danish .
Is it possible to show a translation (Danish) as default when user first enters the site without any redirects? And still have English as the base language for the whole site, also when the translations are missing?
I understand your requirements. Typically, WPML shows the site's default language content to users on their first visit. The functionality to display a non-default language automatically to first-time visitors, without redirection or any action from the user, is not within WPML's standard features. Regrettably, achieving what you're aiming for is not possible with the current capabilities of WPML.
For your specific need, custom development would be necessary. If this is a critical requirement for the site, I recommend consulting with a developer experienced in customizing WPML to explore possible custom solutions that might better suit your needs. As providing support for custom coding beyond the scope of our support, you can hire a professional developer from here: https://wpml.org/contractors/
I hope you can understand. If there is anything else you need help with, feel free to let me know. I will be happy to help.
Kind regards,
Prosenjit
