[Resolved] There are a number of texts that are not shown in translation
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was experiencing issues with certain texts not displaying in the translated language on their website. Specifically, the 'Course Category' title on a category page was showing in the main language instead of the secondary language (Catalan), despite being translated in WPML.
There are a number of texts that are not shown in translation.
1.- Images no1 and no2 show the translation entered in the secondary language (Catalan) for the two text strings.
2.- In the image no3 you can see the text of the button showing the text of the main language although the language of the web is in the secondary language.
This same situation happens to me with other buttons of the web.
Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support. Sorry for the delay in responding due to the weekend.
Upon reviewing the course page, I noticed that the Button is a component of the Single Post template, that you've created in Elementor for displaying each course. If this template hasn't been translated, then it's expected that the button will not appear in a translated form. Would you please check and ensure that the Template has been translated properly into other languages? you can check the guide below to understand the process.
Hello,
The instructions you gave me solved most of the problems.
There is only one text string that is resisting.
It is the following URL: hidden link
I am viewing the page in the "Catalan" language but the text string "Course Category" appears in "Spanish".
I managed to translate this string from "English" to "Spanish" through the menu "The7>Post Type Builder>Taxonomies", I edited the taxonomy "course_category" where two fields appear: "Singular Label" and "Plural Label". This is the text that appears in the URL indicated above. I attach image 1.
If I go to "WPML>Taxonomies Translation", select "Course Category", I can translate the strings but it is not displayed on the web page correctly. Attached images 2, 3 and 4.
Hello Eduardo,
Glad to hear that you've managed to translate most of the strings correctly.
Upon reviewing the Category page, I found that the "Course Category" title has been incorporated within the Elementor Archive template using the Title widget. Could you please check and confirm that the Archive template used for the Category has been translated correctly?
Hello prosenjit,
I have gone through each of the templates that "Translation management" has shown me and in none of these templates has the string "Categoría del curso" appeared.
I don't know where to look further.
If you wish I can create a temporary user for you so you can see it yourself.
Regards
Eduardo
Hello Eduardo,
Thank you for trying out the suggestions.
As the issue persists, a closer inspection will be required to understand the root cause of the issue.
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated.
You will find the needed fields below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.
IMPORTANT
-Please backup site files and database before providing us access.
-If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link
Hello There,
Thanks for sharing the access information.
I'm happy to inform you that I have successfully translated the Category label. This issue primarily arose because the template wasn't translated and the Label wasn't registered for translation from the Admin screen in String Translation. Here are the specific actions I took to address this issue:
1. I navigated to "Templates > All" and completed the translation of the "The7 free courses posts archive" template. It's normal not to see the title there, as the Post title was added dynamically.
2. Next, I accessed the Admin Screen of String Translation and searched for the label "Categoría del cursor". For guidance on accessing the Admin Screen, please refer to this tutorial: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/#translate-admin-and-settings-strings
3. The label was found in the search results. I selected it and included it for translation.
4. Finally, I added the translation by returning to WPML > String Translation.
I hope it helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.
