This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are trying to translate property posts on your site using WPML, but after an update, translations are not available, and the '+' symbol for adding translations does not appear for properties, although it appears for other posts. Solution: First, ensure that 'Languages' is enabled in the display options of your page. This can often be overlooked. Here are the steps to potentially resolve the issue: 1. Navigate to WPML > Translation Dashboard. 2. Select posts that were previously translated but now show as untranslated. 3. Send them to automatic translation. If this solution does not apply to your case because it might be outdated, or if you continue experiencing issues, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Additionally, you can open a new support ticket for further assistance at WPML support forum.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate posts for properties (houses) on my site hidden link using WPML. After updating, I noticed an issue with the translations.
Symptoms:
After updating, there are no translations available for properties. The '+' symbol appears for posts but not for properties. In WPML settings, it is selected to translate these posts (properties).
Questions:
Why are there no translations for properties after the update?
Why is the '+' symbol not appearing for properties?
Please click on one of the "+" sign on a previously translated post, and check if the segments are automatically filled. Since WPML has a feature called Translation Memory, the previously created translations should be saved in memory.
If the content is saved there, you can follow the steps that follow. Please only follow the steps for posts you know were previously translated and on small batches (perhaps of 10 or less):
1. Go to WPML > Translation Dashboard;
2. Select posts that were previously translated, but are not;
3. Send them to automatic translation;
Since the content is saved in memory, you shouldn't have any costs, as auto translation only charges for new translations. Let me know how it goes.
Hi Lucas,
The site was working fine, after an update there is no flag or + so i can translate the property (post). at the post there is the + see picts 1 and 2
At the WPML settings i have cheched the properties posts. see pict 3
Can you help?
It's possible that you don't have "Languages" enabled in the display options of the page. Click on the option marked in the attached image and check the language box.
Nonetheless, please follow the steps I sent previously and provide me with feedback. By following and providing feedback on the steps shared by us in support, you're more likely to solve your issue quicker. Here are them again:
1. Go to WPML > Translation Dashboard;
2. Select posts that were previously translated, but are not;
3. Send them to automatic translation;
I would like to look at this directly on your site. For this I would need temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site, preferably to a test/staging site where the problem has been replicated if possible.
The required fields can be found below the comments section. The information you enter is private, i.e. only you and I can see it and have access to it.
I may need to replicate your website locally. To do this, I need to temporarily install a plugin called "Duplicator" or "All in One WP Migration" on your website. This will allow me to create a copy of your website and content. Once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local website. Let me know if this works for you.
IMPORTANT
Please make a backup copy of the site files and database before giving us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields, this means your post and site login details are being made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details if you do not see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:
I checked your website and noticed that somehow the language column was removed from the Properties list. Nonetheless, you add translations as you wish from within the property itself - check the image attached.
If possible, please reach out to the WPResidence team, and check with them if it was their decision to remove the language column. I checked your WPML settings, and they're correct for your usage needs.
