This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client reported that some translations previously entered into the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) were missing, even though the translated content was still correctly displayed on the live website. This issue occurred after updating WordPress and plugins.
Solution: We suggested that the issue might have arisen because the original text was altered or edited, causing ATE to recognize it as different text. As a result, the client would need to re-enter the translations. Additionally, the client mentioned that they restored a backup from before the updates, which resolved the issue temporarily. We advised that if the problem reoccurs after future updates, the client should contact us again.
Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. If you're experiencing similar issues, we recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket with us for further assistance.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
In our website all the pages are translated with WPML so on the webpage it is correctly shown in two more language. BR is the main language, and also there is ES and EN
However when i click on "edit translation" and i come in to the Advanced translataion editor" the right column where the translated content should be, it's missing some translations I already filled befor. It seem WPML "forgot" the translation memory ou something.
But still it is translated and showed correct online on the published pages...
Example of a blog article in EN hidden link
the same article on ACT in EN looks like this hidden link
you can see a sentence in BR like:
"Fátima, uma cidade no centro de Portugal, é o destino ideal para quem quer mergulhar na espiritualidade. Cerca de 6 milhões de viajantes e peregrinos de todo o mundo a visitam todos os anos"
its missing on ACT but online it is showing the translation we did
"Fatima, a city in the center of Portugal, is the ideal destination for those who want to immerse themselves in spirituality. Around 6 million travelers and pilgrims from all over the world visit it every year."
Meanwhile this ticket is attended by one of my colleagues, I'll recommend trying the following:
IMPORTANT: Take full backup of your website and database beforehand.
- Update WPML plugins to the latest versions.
- Then clear caches.
- Delete existing translation of the page (https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-delete-the-translation-of-a-page/). Since you're using ATE for translation, the translation memory should help with the next steps. Make sure to delete the translation from Trash also.
- Make a little change in the content, in default language (i.e. a word or a dot).
- Translate again and see if everything appears now as expected?
Please let us know your findings and we'll try our best to help you further on the matter.
Hello,
My name is Carlos and I will continue working on this ticket
This behavior happens when the original text was altered or edited and now ATE recognizes it as a different text so you will need to add the translations again.
But I didn't change those sentences... They were already fully translated. Otherwise how would they be visible on frontend even after clear cache?
The only thing I did was adding title and meta description on rank math plugin and wanted to translate that.

The only thing I did was adding title and meta description on rank math plugin and wanted to translate that, and I did is sucessfully on monday, but yesterday thin happened to several articles (blog ant custom posts)
I'd also like to know where the translations are stored because I did a search in the database for the translation "são miguel northeast" which, as you can see here hidden link, is translated in the ATE, but I couldn't find it. I tried other translations and couldn't find them either. Where are they?
I understand the behavior! but I did't change ANYTHING on the strigs that are missing translations. Also, all the profiles with translation profile lost the ability to translate. I had to create a new translation job, so they can translate.
Plese adress my question...
also need answer to where the translations are stored
