This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
A client is trying to use WPML to make template files in a theme multilingual. When they tried to translate text using __(), they ran into an issue where the auto-translate button was not showing up.
Solution:
1. We suggested the client to contact their hosting or webmaster to see if external connections or XLIFF file creation is blocked.
2. We suggested them to test on different servers and see if that solves the issue.
3. We recommended that they set their WordPress address (URL) and site address (URL) to be the same in their WordPress settings.
It's possible that this solution is outdated or doesn't apply to your case. If so, please open a new support ticket. We also strongly recommend that you check for related known issues, check the version of the permanent fix, and make sure that you have the latest version of your theme and/or plugins installed. Check for known issues

Hi, before your ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues, please allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps. This will help speed up the support process. I'm answering you in English, as we don't have any Japanese-speaking supporters. You can send them to the translation basket as viewable here https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/#sending-strings-to-translators and then from there you can translate automatically, as you would translate a page or post. Best Regards, |

Hello, if possible, please use the English language, since this is an English support forum and we are using a translation engine to understand your reply. Waiting for translator status means you have assigned this to one of our translator users/yourself. This means you would need to go to WPML > Translation > Take and translate the job. You can then use automatic translation from the WPML editor. Let me know if this helps and if you have any other questions. Regards, |

Thank you for your message. I do not speak English, so I used ChatGPT to translate my message. Here is what I would like to communicate: After clicking [Translate] in WPML > Translation > Take and translate the job, the screen appeared as shown in the screenshot. An error message says, "Could not fetch job details." What could be the cause of this issue? I appreciate your help. Best regards. |

Hello, thank you. 1) In order to expedite handling your support requests, can you please share WPML support debug information from your site. - To give debug information, login to your site and go to WPML → Support. From there click on the “debug information” link at the bottom of the page. - Once on the “debug information” page, select the entire content of the text box and copy it. - Now go back to our support forum, find debug information box and paste it. More information on the link: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/ 2) Check if you have any security plugin or object cache enabled that could cause the issues, disable them. Try to send the job again for translation and check if it works. Regards, |

Hello, I am trying to access but I get a notification that it is blocked, image is attached. This could be what is causing issues with WPML translation also, since we use external links to translate websites. You will need to allow connection to the next URLs: wpml.org Please contact your hosting/web administrator and whitelist these URLs, if you then still have an issue please allow me to log in so I can check the issue further. Regards, |

Hello, Thank you for checking. I have changed the settings for the XML-RPC API. If you cannot log in to FTP, it seems that an allowed IP address may be required. Best regards. |

Hello, thanks, I have checked but could not find the solutions. Seems to work fine with EN string, but not JP. I have also tried to reproduce the issue on the new website, but there it works fine. I have escalated this to our 2nd tier to check and advise further. I will update you soon. Thanks and regards, |

Hello, we checked further and we can see that the XLIFF file which should have content for translation that is being sent to our editor is empty so it causes issues. We suspect it could be that something is still blocking. I have tried on localhost with your website and it works just fine: - hidden link Can you please check again with your hosting/web administrator if anything is still being blocked by an external connection or the creation of an XLIFF file? If possible can you please try to check on some other server/hosting? Let me know how it goes and if possible, I will check further with our 2nd tiers. Regards, |
