Or even better if you could replicate the issue on our sandbox site here hidden link so that I could escalate this straight to our 2nd Tier Support. I've already installed the WPML plugin and you just need to install your plugins and replicate the issue.

I've received feedback from our 2nd Tier Support, and they have explained that the observed behavior is intentional. By default, Member Types (bp_member_type) are configured as non-translatable, although it seems that the user has chosen to customize this behavior. Even if you switch languages and manually save the Member type, this option remains unchecked in the other language.
