In order to investigate the issue, do you give me permission to download a copy of your site?

OK, thank you.
In the meantime, should I try to to use a previous backup from jetpack to "downgrade" WordPress?
Are you working from the production website or from the copy you did?

I am working in the copy.

You can try to install a backup with the previous version of WordPress to see if the issue is related to the wordpress update

Hi there!
I have removed via the database all the strings with the domain default from the database and now it works as it says here:
https://wpml.org/errata/wordpress-6-3-performance-issues-with-string-translation-in-specific-scenarios/

If you give me permission I can do it on your site.

I have applied the solution and I see that the problem persists on your site but in my local copy it works normally.

Could you please contact your hosting support in that case wordpress and ask if there is any issue as you get 504 error?

Hi Paola,

I have already contacted them and here is what they are saying:

Hi David,

Thanks for reaching out! My name is Lara and I am here to help. The 504 error you're experiencing is typically related to a server-side issue, which might be due to a plugin not being compatible with a recent WordPress update. In this case, it seems the WPML translation plugin might be causing this problem.

Here are a few steps you can take to try to resolve this issue:

Update the Plugin: Ensure that the WPML translation plugin is updated to the latest version. The issue might have been fixed in a newer version of the plugin.
Check for Plugin Conflicts: Temporarily deactivate all your plugins, except for WPML, and see if the issue persists. If it's resolved, reactivate your plugins one by one until you find the one causing the conflict. You may check out this guide: hidden link
Check your internet connection: A slow or unstable internet connection can also lead to a 504 error. If possible, try accessing your website from a different network to see if the problem persists.
Contact WPML Support: If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to WPML's support team. They may be able to provide a solution or update to resolve the conflict with the recent WordPress update.

Remember to backup your website before making any changes to avoid losing any data. If none of these steps work, please let us know. We'll need to look into this further, so please provide us with the following information:

The exact time and date when you encountered the error.
The specific pages or products you were trying to manage when the error occurred.
Any recent changes you've made to your website.

I hope this helps! If you have any more questions or if the problem persists, please don't hesitate to get back in touch.

Best Regards,
Lara | WordPress.com Support"

They are basically saying to see with you guys as the issue is only happening when the WPML plug in is activated.

Please advise,

Thanks a lot!

Have you tried to downgrade wordpress version and see if the issue disappears?

Hello, I have tried to downgrade WP with Jetpack and the plug-in you recommended (WP Downgrade) but both options never worked and I could never downgrade, it gets stuck at the current version. Do you know why?

Hello Paola, I see that there is a beta upgrade of WPML to resolve the known issue that I have been experiencing. Can you help me updating WPML to that version? Thank you
