I am noticing errors in Google Console.
When I am on my main domain (.nl) it gives an error that it cannow load a font from my translated domain (.co.uk).
I am not sure why it is even trying to load files from there, as this should not happen.

Please note that in this case it is specific for the category page:
hidden link

Please find a screenshit at the following link:

Full error message below:

Hey Sander,

Thank you for reaching out to the WPML support!

This is an error that's not coming from our plugin but from the server configuration. Please reach out to your hosting provider and ask him to check this out. This can be fixed from the server-side, so I'm sure that the hosting will be able to fix this one in no time.
Please give this a try and tell me how it goes.

Thanks,
Radu

Hello Radu,

I am not sure why this would 'excuse' WPML?
There is NO reason for the .nl domain to load anything from the .co.uk domain.
I assume this has something to do with WPML? Why would the .nl domain even know about the co.uk domain if it was not for WPML?

I don't want to allow cross-domain CORS; I want WPML to not load any resources from a different domain if that is not required. Why are you doing this; and it seems that WPML could (and should?) fix this?

Or am I missing something?

Hey Sander,

I'm sorry but you need to enable CORS in order to have this working. I'm afraid that it's the only way to make this font load correctly.

Thanks,
Radu

Hi Radu,

but should the font not simply be loaded from the .nl domain?
Why would the .nl domain load a font over the .co.uk domain?
That does not make sense at all.

Most of all, our secondary domain is not even co.uk, but .com!
So what is going on there?
Is this some outdated cache issue at play?

I want the .nl domain to load the .nl font.

Hey Sander,

I had to ask my colleagues to have a look at this and see if there's any other way to make the font load (apart from enabling CORS).
I will keep you posted about this as soon as I get a message back (which shouldn't take long).

Thanks,
Radu

Hey Sander,

Can you send me a copy of the website, please? My colleague couldn't find any other solution and, since this font seems to be included on the Salient theme, there might be an issue with the way that the theme works when used with domain per language.

That's why I need a copy of your website so I can escalate it to the 2nd tier and let my colleagues check it further. Please create a package using this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/, then upload it to Google Drive or Dropbox, and send me a link to it here, so I can download it.

Thanks,
Radu

Hello Radu,

there are several reasons, laws and regulations why I cannot do that.
Would you be able to run an installation of the Salient theme on your end?
It is one of the most used themes: hidden link

Could you explain to me WHY my .nl domain would load something from a .co.uk domain, even though our second domain is configured as.com?
This makes NO sense and should NOT happen. I think this is some cache/bug/old code related issue. Curious about your explanation why our server/theme would configure our font to be loaded via a random TLD?

Hey Sander,

Can you tell me if you made any changes to the website in the meantime, please? I can see that the error in the console right here:
hidden link

is no longer having the .co.uk domain. I have to escalate this to the 2nd tier support for a closer look but I want to make sure that I give my colleagues all the details. However, the error message is mentioning .com so I wanted to check first if you changed anything about that.

Thanks,
Radu

Hello,

first of all. Often the buttons 'I still need assistance' do not appear; and I cannot respond. Logging out and in again does not help. What is causing this?

Second; the problem was not on the product page but on the category page.
For now I do not see the issue at this second; but I am surprised (disappointed?) about the replies) so far that mostly seem to avoid or ignore the issue at hand.

Anyhow, if the error message for now does not appear the issue seems resolved.
But it might be that it pops up again. Can I re-open this ticket in case that happens?

Hey Sander,

I checked your website this morning and I could see that the issue was gone. However, if the issue comes back later, you can definitely open a new ticket and we'll check this out.

This ticket will stay open just for a couple of days but you can always open a new one (and even mention the link to this ticket) to mention that it happened before.

Thanks,
Radu
