Hi,

I've read your ticket with my colleague Nicolas. We referred you to our guide here.

https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/translating-acf-blocks-with-wpml/#preparing-programatically-registered-fields-for-translation

When I edit the theme's files on your site, I can see several ACF configuration files in /functions/acf/.

Can you please be very specific about this problem?
Which file should I check for its settings?

I understand that the problem is with image fields.

Then where can I see the problem on the site?
Which post or page do I need to edit to see this problem?

To debug this issue and ensure there is no collision with a third-party plugin, I deactivated all the plugins and only left the following active.

WPML
Strings Translation
WPML Media
ACF Pro
ACF Multilingual

Is there another plugin that is required to be active to replicate this problem?

I'll wait for your reply.

Regards,
Itamar.

Hi Itamar,

Please check the hidden link and the homepage.

In the homepage you will find that the images are copied as intended. But wont display on the front-end. Even when you do the translation manual. Based on inspect tool i found the that the images controlling the slideshow is class field_5689b31b4e59f

this is inspected on the page hidden link

The ACF field group is controlled in the header-project.php

array(
'key' => 'field_5689b31b4e59f',
'label' => 'Slides',
'name' => 'header_p_slideshow',
'type' => 'repeater',
'wpml_cf_preferences' => 1,
'instructions' => '',
'required' => 0,
'conditional_logic' => 0,
'wrapper' => array(
'width' => '',
'class' => '',
'id' => '',
),
'sub_fields' => array(
array(
'key' => 'slide_p_image',
'label' => 'Slide image',
'name' => 'slide_p_image',
'type' => 'image',
'wpml_cf_preferences' => 1,
'instructions' => '',
'required' => 0,
'conditional_logic' => 0,

'wrapper' => array(
'width' => '',
'class' => '',
'id' => '',

Please let me know if their is anything I can do. I noticed that when changing the Page template, the images are showing. Perhaps that this is something to look into

Hi, and thanks for the detailed reply.

You wrote: "I noticed that when changing the Page template, the images are showing. Perhaps that this is something to look into"

So, if it works when changing the page template, the settings must be correct.
Can you agree with me on this?

Could it be that the current page template (where the problem is) is not translated?
What more can you add about the page template?
Where is it located, and what is its name?

Regards,
Itamar.

Hi Itamar,

The page template is located here hidden link

I noticed that only the image will show. You could try this out when changing the page to default.

its name: Beginpagina template Page Template
(page-frontpage.php)

Its not clear to my why this would not make it translatable. Templates should be set to not translateably right?

Hi,

In WPML -> Languages, I saw that the 'Language filtering for AJAX operations' option is inactive. Please see the attached screenshot. So, I activated it, but unfortunately, it didn't help.

I'm sorry, but I still don't understand how things are constructed on your site. I'll do my best to continue to help you, but it seems that you have a lot of custom code, and this might be out of the scope of our support forum.

You wrote: "I noticed that only the image will show. You could try this out when changing the page to default."

I'm not sure what to try. I edited the homepage, and the 'Aanvraag voor partnership met Brabant C' page, but I don't see a place to change the template of the page.

Could you please elaborate on what I should do?

You also asked: "Its not clear to my why this would not make it translatable. Templates should be set to not translateably right?"

The template should be multilingual ready. If it is a template from a page builder plugin, you need to translate it.

Regards,
Itamar.

Hi Itamar,

Thanks for your help already. The only custom code is the ACF Builder, unfortunataly the customer hired me to only translate the site to english. Perhaps that WPML is not the write solution then, im not sure why the text is translating but the images are not showing. Im quite sure that is because of the setting. But im not sure anymore if I configured it correctly.

That is the reason why I reached out to support on the first place.

To answer your question about the template page. I have attached a screenshot.

Thanks!

In WPML -> Settings -> Media translation, I pressed the 'Start' button to duplicate the media to the translated content. There were many images to duplicate, so I needed to wait a few minutes for the process to finish. Please see the attached screenshot. But I think it worked. At least some of the images are shown on the translated page and posts. Please see the attached screenshot.

Is the images' issue solved now?

If not, can you please be specific about which images are missing? (Please include screenshots.)

Thanks,
Itamar.

Hi Itamar,

Thanks for investigating so far. I looks like only the images from Projecten are translated. Which is nice.

Did you make any changes to that, because this is the only places where everything is working as it should. Perhaps this can be copied to the other elements like the news, related articles etc

Hi,

I'm sorry, but I'm unsure what you are asking.

As far as I can tell, the "news" posts are working fine. I can see the images are shown on the English-translated news posts. In my last reply, I shared a screenshot from a news post. Here are two examples.

You wrote: "Perhaps this can be copied to the other elements like the news, related articles etc"

Where is the related articles section with the problem? And what do you mean by "etc"?

Please send me links and screenshots that explain this.

If the images are added with ACF fields, you must ensure that the fields are set to "Copy". Please check this guide for the ACF translation preferences according to each field.

Hi, and sorry for the late reply.

In WPML -> Settings -> Custom Fields Translation, you must ensure that all the fields are set correctly. For example, I can see a few fields related to images and carousels that are marked as "Don't translate." This also includes system fields. Please see the attached screenshot system-fields-not-trans.jpg and projects_quotes.jpg. Those are just examples, as you might have more fields set to "Don't translate." The settings should be according to the following guide.

https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/translate-sites-built-with-acf/recommended-custom-fields-translation-preferences-for-acf-and-wpml/

Itamar.

Hi Itmar,

I did change the system fields as requested. Now very thing is gone. Perhaps the settings are still incorrect, but I dont know it. Can you please check?

For example the homepage showed the projects with images, but even that is gone

Hi,

I'm sorry if I didn't mention it, but changing the settings will not solve the problem by itslef; you must also update the translations.

Regards,
Itamar.
