This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to add a French translation to a post using the WPML plugin. After completing the translation and pressing 'Complete translation', the Pencil icon shows it is applied. However, upon refreshing the page, the Pencil icon disappears, and the + button reappears, with the French translation still missing.
Solution:
If this issue is only occurring on a specific page, it might be due to corruption on that page. We recommend trying to duplicate the page and then attempting the translation on the duplicated page. Please check if this resolves the issue.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket with us for further assistance at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to add a French translation to a post on my site hidden link. I use the WPML plugin to manage translations. I press the + button for the selected language, complete the translation to 100%, and press Complete translation. The Pencil icon shows it is applied.

Symptoms:
After refreshing the page, the Pencil icon disappears, and the + button reappears. The added French translation is still missing.

Questions:
Why does the French translation not appear after I complete it?
Why does the Pencil icon disappear and the + button reappear after refreshing the page?

Hi there!

This is Paola and I hope you are well!

To check if there is a compatibility issue with a plugin, please do the following test:
- deactivate all plugins except the WPML ones
- if the problem disappears activate one by one to see which one cause the issue
- you can use plugin Check Conflicts to deactivate plugins without affecting your site

Please let me know what you find.

Disabled all but WPML. That does not solve the problem disabled all. Tried to apply the Spanish or French language and will not work.

German and Portuguese is working so I do not understand what the problem is.

I see this problem on 2 more pages with those two languages.

Just tried a different page and no problem translated all 4 languages we published.

Is there a debugging log where to see where it goes wrong?

Found this entry in the error logs.
2025/05/15 8:16:53 AM AMS Server Communication Api error missing resource: No sitekey found for this website 0 0 {"errorData":{"status":400,"title":"Api error missing resource","detail":"No sitekey found for this website"}}

In the queue you see also no view link. What is going wrong?

Ok thanks for the info.

If it is only happening to a specific page, it seems there is something corrupt on that page. Could you please try to duplicate that page and try to translate it?

Please let me know how it goes.

The issue is resolved. But keep in mind that you have to fix the menu's and slug id's and if you use Yoast check all the redirects it's made.

Not an easy task.
