Background of the issue:
I am trying to use the advanced translator in WPML on my site hidden link. I have increased my WordPress menu limit to 512Mb. There is no documentation on how to use the advanced translator.

Symptoms:
The advanced translator is not working properly. It keeps telling me to save sentences, yet I have saved every one of them. It keeps saying I have sentences to review but there is no way to review them. Some parts of the initial translation have reverted to English on the frontend. It is not remembering my edits to translation.

Questions:
Why does the advanced translator keep asking me to save sentences?
Why are some parts of the translation reverting to English on the frontend?
Why is it not remembering my edits to translation.

Hi,

I will try to answer the question before assigning the ticket to one of my colleagues.

Would you please go to the advanced translation editor and from the top right section click the settings icon and enable the Previous version of the ATE?

You will see a box to create a feedback. Add something and submit to make sure the previous version of the ATE loads.

See if it fixes the issue for you?

Thanks.

Thank you Christopher, I changed to the previous ATE.
At first, it allowed me to click on the "save changes" button, but nothing really happened.
I kept getting an error when I try to save certain sentences...
"Translation not saved. The original sentence includes formatting markers. However, not all markers are applied to the translation
Formatting markers help."

Now it gives me this again, "Job not finished
Save and complete the translation of all sentences, then finish the job"

I also was getting error an message,
"Translation not saved
The original text contains nested formatting tags (one tag inside another).
Please nest the formatting markers in your translation in the same order."

The original text is no different than other pieces of text.

Sometimes the editor breaks original sentences apart, so the translation is a piece of a sentence at a time. Again the original text is no different than elsewhere.

Not sure if anything was done on the backend by WPML.
I re-translated the entire page from the translations section of the WPML menu. This created a better translation, and all sections now were in French. It appears to have learned from my previous corrections. Also I selected to "publish without needing review."

Here is one big difficulty or bug in the translation editor...
when translating an English phrase that was in bold, it may often be split into two bolded words separated by a non-bolded word or two when in French. When this happened there were then more bolded areas in the French translation than in the English original. The translation editor would not accept this. When I made sure there were an equal number of bolded areas in the original English and in the French translation the sentence would be accepted.

This is a bug that needs to be corrected. Very confusing, and not necessary.

Thank you Christopher for suggesting using the previous editor version as it stated reasons why the sentence would not be accepted. Even though the explanations were not very clear it gave me something to go on.

The suggestion (by WPML) to update the plugins was not helpful as the versions suggested to upgrade to were not available.
