This is really outrageous. I just lost an entire day of work due to WPML’s Advanced Translation Editor silently failing to create translated posts. I created a brand-new post from scratch, clicked the + to add a translation, translated all content (including media), clicked Save & Complete, and published — and nothing was saved. The translation remained “In Progress,” no translated post was created, and all the work I entered was effectively lost. I spent the entire afternoon trying to fix this using WPML’s troubleshooting tools, and only when I had lost hope did I switch to the Classic Translation Editor, which finally allowed me to save and publish the translation — but I was forced to re-enter all translations from scratch. I have been a paid WPML client for many years, and I have never encountered a bug that is so disruptive. This is completely unacceptable — I cannot rely on your plugin for production work if the editor discards content without warning. This caused real lost of time, effort, and money. I expect guidance on how to recover lost translations, a fix to prevent this from happening again, and confirmation that your team is aware of this critical issue. Please escalate this to 2nd-level support immediately. |

Hello, I am sorry to hear that you ran into such an issue, but please take note that there should be nothing to worry about the already saved translations inside the Advanced Translation Editor, as they are saved in its translation memory. Further, on our system, it looks like many of the jobs from today were actually completed and saved in our translation system, but somehow the content is not picked up from WordPress. I'd like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the website to investigate the issue further. You'll find the necessary fields below the comment section if you log in to leave the next reply. The information you provide will be private, meaning only you and I will be able to see and access it. IMPORTANT If you don't see the "wp-admin / FTP" fields, your login credentials for the post and website will be set to "PUBLIC." Do NOT publish the information unless you see the required wp-admin / FTP fields. I may need to install a plugin called "All In One WP Migration" to create a copy of the website on which I can investigate the problem more thoroughly. I would also be very grateful if you could provide a staging site on your server for this purpose. If you have any questions about creating such a staging site, please contact your hosting provider. Please ensure that WPML is also registered on this staging site at https://wpml.org/de/account/websites/. If you are unable to provide such a copy of the website for testing, please let me know on this ticket. The private reply form looks like this: When replying again, click "I still need assistance". Video: Please note that we are required to request this information individually on each ticket. We are not permitted to access any login information not specifically provided in the private reply form for this ticket. Best regards |

Hello, I sadly not yet received an answer from you. Note that we need access to your site to be able to assist you. The issue you are experiencing could be related to a third-party plugin or server limitation and requires testing before we can take further steps. The private reply form is enabled, so that you can provide admin access to the site. If you can not provide a staging site, I can offer to take a local copy for testing and further escalation. We can not escalate issues right away to second-tier support without confirming what is causing the issue. Suggestions: Revise WPML > Support > ATE Error log for given errors and report them to us. In case you do not need further assistance, please feel free to close this ticket. Best regards |

I may give you credentials so you could copy the website yourself with All In One WP Migration, can even install this in advance, but the private mode is not enabled anymore. |

We sadly used to have some temporary connectivity issues on our translation server. Your site is currentlys et up to use the "Classic Translation Editor". Take kindly note that translations completed on the Classic Translation Editor will not be available if you switch the translation method to "Advanced Translation Editor", unless you earlier used the ATE for creating the translation. In this case, it is saved inside the translation memory. Would you like to enable the Advanced Translation Editor inside WPML's settings again and verify if the translations do work as expected now? |

The translations made with ATE are there, but I needed to retranslate all with Classic as it wasn't saving the page and I had to publish it immediately. |

To help us investigate the issue with translations remaining in “In Progress” status, could you please provide the following details: - The URL of the content you were trying to translate. - The translation method you intended to use (Advanced Translation Editor or Classic Translation Editor). This information will allow us to trace the translation job in the logs and confirm whether the problem is related to synchronization or editor compatibility. Please note that only the Advanced Translation Editor includes an integrated translation memory, so identifying the method used is essential for troubleshooting. Thank you for your cooperation — once we have this example, we’ll be able to move forward with a precise diagnosis. |

The translation for this page is not completing for some unexpected reason. Before we take any further steps: Optional: After that, try to save the translation again. If this does not solve the issue, please let me know. |

Ok, I will be taking a local copy to investigate this further. Note that I already made a small change, which solved one issue, but did not solve the fact that translations are not completing after all. I changed the config at WPML > Settings > Custom XML Configuration slightly to:
<wpml-config>
<shortcodes>
<shortcode>
<tag>basel_title</tag>
<attributes>
<attribute encoding="allow_html_tags">title</attribute>
<attribute>subtitle</attribute>
<attribute>after_title</attribute>
</attributes>
</shortcode>
...
</wpml-config>
Why I did this? <strong>Join In</strong> . To be able to translate these texts inside the Advanced Translation Editor, the shortcode attribute must look like this: <attribute encoding="allow_html_tags">title</attribute> |

On a local copy of your site the job completes as expected. See screenshot. I will be taking another look on your site and then get back to you. |

Thank you for your patience! Apart from the XML config issue, there was an issue about a non-matching ATE ID on your site, and this was why the Advanced Translation Editor was not able to connect to our translation server. The issue is now fixed, and jobs are completing again. New issue: The Promo Banner widget translation is not applied on the frontend. Anyhow, on the local copy of your site, I tested in a minimal setup, and the translation worked out. Please take a backup of your site, including the database, then update all the plugins. After that, edit the original page "Security Tattoo Attempt", save the page, and then complete the translation again. If this does not solve the issue, please let me know. |
