Dear WPML Team,

Hope you can help us as always!

When I add product category in native language(LV) and add product there the new category appears in shop with native language(which is OK), however when I switch language, the new category doesn’t appear even though ticked the box: “Translatable use translation if available or fallback to default language”(WPML - Settings - Product categories).

What I am trying to achieve is getting any new product category to be translated automaticaly once added. How to turn on automatic translation for newly added product categories?

Here is a test category and test product I added:

Translated "test category":
- url to new category in native lang(LV): hidden link
- its duplicated for ENG version(which is OK): hidden link

Parent category with missing "test category":
- url to parent LV category where "test category 1" appears in native lang(LV)
hidden link
- url to parent ENG category where "test category 1" didn't appear(please refer to screenshot attached):
hidden link

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support. I will try my best to assist you in this matter.

Kindly be informed that if Automatic translation is enabled on your site, the category assigned to the product will be translated automatically at the time of product translation. After assigning the category to the default product, just send it again for translation and the newly added category will be assigned to the translated product.

In this particular case, it seems the "Emergency Modules" category has not been assigned to the product which is why, the "Emergency Modules" archive is not showing the child categories. Please do the following steps and check if that helps to solve the issue.

- Open the default product in the WordPress editor.
- Make sure that the category is assigned to the product correctly.
- Now make a small change in the product title and save the changes
- Update the translation of the product
- Now, go to the "WooCommerce > WooCommerce Multilingual > Categories" section.
- Scroll down a bit and check if you're seeing any button named "Synchronize Product categories assignment in content". Click on that and wait till the process is finished.
- Click on the "Hierarchy Synchronization" tab from the same "Categories" section.
- If you notice any "Update taxonomy Hierarchy" button, click on that and update the hierarchy.

I hope it will help. But if the issue persists even after that, please go to the "WPML > Support > troubleshooting" section. Then select "Products" from the dropdown and click on "Synchronize posts taxonomies".

Let me know the update. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit
