This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing issues with automatic translations still occurring despite having disabled them in the settings, and this has resulted in the unintended use of translation credits.
Solution:
First, ensure that in WPML > Settings, you have selected the "translate what you choose" option. Next, navigate to WPML > Settings > Post Types Translation and verify that there is no "translate automatically" option selected for the post type in question. It's possible that the translation jobs were sent for automatic translation before these settings were adjusted, which might explain why translations are still being processed automatically. If you wish to reclaim the credits used, you can click to take back the credits if you do not want the automatic translation functionality.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems outdated, we recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should the problem persist, please open a new support ticket with us.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate my texts manually. I disabled automatic translations in the settings, and all 4 services are labeled 'off'.

Symptoms:
I am still getting automatic translations, which has resulted in some credits being used. Now, every time I create a new translation, I have to reverse the automatic translations.

Questions:
Why are automatic translations still occurring despite being disabled in the settings?
How can I stop automatic translations from happening?
Is there a way to recover the credits that were used due to automatic translations?

I only had to deactivate it once in the header (2. screenshot) do deactivate it completely. Still, my question remains: Why is there an automatic translation when I deactivated the services, how do I get my credits back?

Hi there.

Please make sure that inside WPML > Settings, you are using the "translate what you choose" option.

Also, inside WPML > Settings > Post Types Translation > make sure that for the actual post type where this is happening, make sure that there is no "translate automatically" selection in there.

As you mentioned, you can click to take back the credits if you don't want the automatic translation functionality - my guess is that these translation jobs were already sent for automatic translation initially and maybe WPML remembered that and this was probably the reason why that happened.

I hope that you will find this information helpful.
