This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is experiencing issues with fields being greyed out in the WordPress Editor and content being erased in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) when making changes to translations of custom fields in a Custom Post Type (CPT). These fields are part of ACF groups that are disabled and used as clone fields in another ACF group.
Solution:
1. To address the issue of content being erased in the ATE, we recommend disabling the "I prefer bigger segments" feature in the ATE. This allows breaking down each sentence from a paragraph into smaller segments, helping to avoid retranslating the entire paragraph. Resave your primary language page after making this change.
2. For the greyed-out fields in the WordPress Editor, set the clone fields to 'translate' instead of 'copy'. This change will make the text/textarea fields within the clones manually translatable through the WordPress Editor.
