Background of the issue:
I am trying to manage a multilingual site where the main language is English, using WPML to translate content into other languages like Ukrainian. I noticed that some text from the Betterdocs plugin, which should be in English, has changed to Ukrainian. I have changed some of it back to English, but this should not have changed to Ukrainian in the first place.

Symptoms:
Some text from the Betterdocs plugin that should be in English has unexpectedly changed to Ukrainian. I managed to change some of it back to English (the text the user will see), but not all.

Questions:
Why did some of the Betterdocs plugin text change to Ukrainian when it should be in English?
How can I ensure that all text remains in the original language (English) unless intentionally translated?

Hello, I will take care of your ticket from now on.

You said the solution provided by our AI Agent didn't fix the issue, may I ask what happens after you apply it?

Hello Laura,

If I remember well it asked me to change the language of the string. If I do this through WPML String translation, the original becomes Ukrainian, so the problem remains. I think I could change it by accessing the database, but I don't have access to it. In addition, we would like to know why this problem occurred in the first place, so that we can avoid it in the future.

Kind regards,

Jorge

It depends on how BetterDocs handle this kind of strings. I checked their doc and I can't find anything about so it's possible we didn't test this scenario.

If from the top admin bar you can switch to "all languages" try to set the text from there and then translate from String Translation, otherwise we'll need to reproduce the issue in a clean Sandbox.

The words that are currently in the wrong language are editable via Betterdocs (settings) only with the paid version, which we do not have.

It is not possible to change it when selecting "all languages". I would not know how to replicate the issue because it happened randomly and only once. It is a bit bizarre

It happened in several fields. some of them, I just changed the original in Betterdocs (settings). Others I can not edit because they are only editable with the Pro version. The thing is that they all should be in English and not change, and I am worried that it will keep happening in the future and we have to keep changing it back to English

So after changing the strings once the issue didn't happen anymore?

Jorge Rodriguez

Correct, it happened only once, and the only remaining are the once that can not be accessed because they are only editable if you pay for the Pro version of Betterdocs

Then can we consider the issue solved? If the settings are for the paid version we can't allow editing them.

Yes, we can mark it as solved, and I will get back to you if it happens again, as we still do not know why and when it might happen.
