Hello, I tried to translate my website that uses the Twenty Twenty-Four Template. It translates most of it but not all of it, and the result seem to not take into consideration my template. There are some parts that are missing, and some that are in the French version but not in my English template. Can you help me? I attached an image with the comparison. Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. I will do my best to help you to resolve the issue. Please share the following details for tracking this.

1) Are you using any reusable blocks on this page? If so, please make sure you are following the steps described here - https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-content-created-using-gutenberg-editor/translating-reusable-blocks/

2) Does it happen with multiple pages

One request. Please increase *WP Memory Limit* to *256* MB(the minimum required memory limit for WPML is *128*) for better performance of the site. Refer to the following links for more details

https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/

Yes I am using blocks, but your example doesn't reflect what I see. I use the Theme Twent Twentyfourth (the recent theme published by WordPress). It says on your website that you are compatible with it, and that's why I purchased the plugin.

As you can see in the image attached, which shows screenshots of the blocks, I am using the header and footer blocks. For the header, I am missing some of the menus (including the language selector), and the logo is not displayed on the right size. For the footer, as you can see, only what is on the screen should appear, and in the French version it is not the case.

Also, where do I manage the two language selectors on the bottom? I want them to appear on the top where I placed the selector in the header, as you can see from the screenshot. I don't see them appear anywhere in the 2024 Template.

You can see by yourself:
English: hidden link
French: hidden link

As you can see, there is difference between what I see in the backend for the blocks, that is correctly displayed in English, and the front end for the French, that doens't follow the template.

Can you help me figure out why? Thanks

I think WPML is not really compatible with the 2024 WordPress theme. I keep having issues with URLs and with translations not appearing. Also the menu that is translated seems to be taken from the "Menu" navigation tool that is not used anymore in the 2024 theme. I might try to switch to another template.

Update. I made some tests and the issue seems to be with the themes that are more recent, such as 2023 or 2024. Everything is translated except the header and the footer that are not following the blocks defined in the original language (see previous attachments). Also, there are some issues with the links of the menu since the menu is part of the header that is not updated. I let you have a look and tell me what you find. Thanks.

Hi Diane,

Thank you for the details and login information. We will test it further. One request. Please allow me to make a duplicator copy of your site using the Duplicator plugin(https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/). It will help us in case of further debugging and escalation.

Hi Diane,

Thank you for the updates and permission. I made a copy of the site and did quick testing. A couple of doubts.

1) Please let us know the exact steps to reproduce the following. Because unable to reproduce it exactly. Are you trying to translate external links on the site?

Issues with the URLs: I couldn't find a proper way to set the permalinks so that it translates everything to French from English. After some tests, I left it like that.

2) The language switcher is working as expected in the footer now. The language switcher in the header is not showing French, it will be related to Issue 1. Please refer to the attached images and let us know your feedback.

Hi Bigul,
I don't agree with you, it is still not working, and I can see the French in the menu.
Issue to reproduce:
Bug 1, 2 and 3: go to hidden link you can see the menu in French in the selector or in the footer. Select français.
Or you can go to: hidden link which leads to the same as clicking on Français.
The issue with the footer is not with the language switcher but with the footer block not being translated correctly (see screenshot).
You can see that the header and the footer are not correctly working. If you click on the links to the French part it goes back to English. See screenshot attached.
I just tried in Firefox and Chrome, it is the same behavior.
Diane

PS: in case you wonder, I didn't touch anything on the website since you are testing it.

Hi Bigul,

Just for you to know, this weekend I am adding content on the blog side. I am pretty sure it won't impact your investigation but I wanted to let you know. I added posts and categories that are not public yet but I would like to publish them on Monday or Tuesday.

My original intend was to announce the opening of the website this weekend, but because of the bug with the language I cannot, so I am moving forward with some content creation. I will save my website once more before the end of the weekend. I hope you will be able to find the cause of the bugs with the WP 2024 Theme soon, otherwise I will have to uninstall the WPML plugin and ask for refund on Tuesday because I really need to have my website released at the beginning of this week. I already lost a few days because of this bug so I will have to find another solution and come back to WPML when it is 100% compatible with the WP 2024 Theme.

Thank you and good luck with the investigation.

Best,
Diane

Update. I decided to use another plugin and work on the translations this weekend. I have contacted the non technical support for refund. All the best, Diane
