OK thanks. I will double check my client uses this.

They have also mentioned about not always being able to add the button links on the side by side editor. Have you replicated this?

My client is going to do a screen record tomorrow of the issues. Could i share this with you?

Thanks
Jon

Hello Jon,

Can you elaborate on how the button link is added to the page? Please share the screencast here so I can understand the issue.

Best Regards,
Otto

Hello,

It looks like at some point the translations were done mixing the WP editor and WPML's Classic Translation Editor.

At this point, you have two options:

1.
- Go to hidden link
- Click Edit Post (not Edit translation)
- Click "Edit anyway (not recommended)
- And edit the link and save

2.
- Go to Resources
- Switch to Welsh using the language switcher in the admin bar
- Delete the post "Aerglosrwydd ac Awyru"
- Empty the trash
- Translate it again using the Classic Translation Editor
- After doing this, later editions started to work (I tested this in a local copy of the site)

Please give it a try and let me know how it goes.

❌ Please make a full website backup before proceeding ❌

Best Regards,
Otto

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I think a few of the posts were translated by my client using a mixture of the editors as this was the only way to add the Welsh link to the button, as the button link field wasn't showing in the side-by-side editor.

Do you know why this is happening so they can prevent it happening on future resource posts?

Thanks
Jon

Hello,

Otto is currently on holiday, I will take care of your request in the meantime,

Mixing editors is prone to issues, you might lose translations and when you resave translations, it will revert any edits your did manually using the site editor,

If the link in internal, WPML should adjust and translate it automatically,

With the Classic Translation Editor, you cannot see the URL unless you change some of the settings on how WPML treats these fields, and by default, it is adjusted automatically.

So two ways to avoid this :

1- If the link is internal, WPML should translate it automatically, we need to debug this if it is not working

2- Change the field settings so WPML can load it in the translation editor

Hi

How can i change the setting you mentioned in step 2? The button links are sometimes to pdfs so not internal pages.

Thanks
Jon

Hi

I am now having problems translating this post:

hidden link

I first deleted the Welsh post, emptied trash and started a fresh translation of the post using the WPML editor. I click the + symbol to start the translation, i then get the wpml side-by-side editor.
I enter all the Welsh details, click save. It then takes me back to the English with a notification at the top saying the translation is complete, but it seems it hasn't translated at all or saved. I still have the + symbol in the language box on the English post, as if there is no Welsh version.

If i go through the translation again, all my Welsh text is already there and is 100% completed. I click save again and the same happens.

Can you have a look please? I have already provided Admin access.

Thanks
Jon

Hello Jon,

Please apologize for the delay. There was a holiday in many countries yesterday and we are catching up.

I purged SG cache and then went to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting and clicked on: Clear the cache on WPML and Remove ghost entries from the translations table.

After this I managed to save the translation and it remained translated. Please check it.

Best Regards,
Otto

Hello Jon,

Please apologize, I focused on the issue of the translation not saving. Now, as far as I can see, it works and you can edit it.

If it's possible for you, can you please edit and complete the translation again? After this, it should work.

Best Regards,
Otto
