Tell us what you are trying to do?

I want to know If the String Translation plugin translates the content displayed on the front-end of the website or if is this used for translating content/strings that are displayed on the backend/admin screen?

If this plugin is not contributing to the front-end translation, I would like to deactivate this plugin. Does deactivating this plugin affect the already translated strings?

NOTE: While responding to this ticket, Can you keep "rajeev@colorwhistle.com" email address in CC?

Hi,

Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

1) String Translation allows you to translate texts that are not in posts, pages, and taxonomy. This includes the site's tagline, general texts in admin screens, widget titles, and many other texts. These texts appear on the front end, and deactivating the plugin will affect the translations.

Kindly check our String Translation guide to know more about it. (https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/)

2) I'm afraid we can't cc another email because the system automatically sends these emails.

Best regards,
Osama

So, If I deactivate this plugin, then translated strings will be reverted and it will not display in the frontend anymore? Can you confirm this?
Also, Is it possible to check what are the strings that are translated by this add-on? That are displayed in the frontend of the website.

Hi,

1) Yes, the translated strings will be reverted to the default language.

2) You can enable the "Track where strings appear on the site" feature to check where these strings appear.

Best regards,
Osama
