Hello, we are developing a site which ultimately will use Woo Multistore feature, but for now this is irrelevant.

Our case on our development site is as follows:

- we had products in store, which was set to be Dutch by default, so products were also set to NL by default

- we added 2nd language (English) and copied all NL products to EN

- in the meantime, client has decided that the default language for products should be EN

Is there a way for us to execute a switch of default language for all products from Dutch to English?

Note: There are no actual translations involved, both original products and copies use English, we were to add actual Dutch translations later.

Only thing translated are the taxonomies for store (product categories, attributes and tags), but these can be redone manually, if that helps.

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support. While you are waiting for one of my colleagues to take this ticket and work on it, let me provide you with the first debugging steps and try to help with the issue quickly.

1) There is no easy way to change the default language of the product, you can follow the next manual steps to change them:

2) If there is no translation, maybe would be best to delete the NL products, and duplicate new products from EN to NL.

Please test this on staging site if it works for your case.

Regards,
Drazen

Thank you. We did end up removing products and reimporting them with proper language priority set this time, but had this been a properly populated site it could have been different. Would be awesome if there was a way to "bulk" switch default language for products, but after digging into it a bit more I understand that this includes connected elements, taxonomies, etc.
