Thanks for your reply. My apologies for the inconvenience. I will do my best to assist you further with this. I'd like you to know that our support policy allows us to take care of only one issue per ticket, so I'll be splitting tickets accordingly so that we can follow up.
As you know we are working on solving the translation issues on my staging site. My production site however needs to be translated in the near future as well.
Is it possible to transfer all the work we have done on the staging site to the production site where the staging2 part of all links will be removed?
Or do I have to buy credits again? As you can imagine this something I desperately want to avoid as it is a lot of money.
It is possible to do a custom deploy but I'm hesitant to use this feature...... So what are my options?
Second question: as I'm using Kadence for almost all of my sites I'm hoping that you are able to provide me a guide on what I have to do to setup WPML properly so there will not be these issues anymore.
Regarding the issues you’re experiencing, the template problem appears to be caused by a lost sync. Resaving the template resolves it, which usually points to a server-related interruption while the translation process was running.
As for the variation image issue, this is a compatibility-related problem. You can apply the workaround that was shared in the earlier ticket we worked on together.
Thanks.... I will study the docs and will try to bring it to a good end.... I'll keep you posted.
I have to do some other tasks first but I will start with it as soon as possible.
Hey Kor,
I was to curious to let it rest, so I took a moment to read the migration document. How do I start it? Where can I find it? I don't understand it...
Thanks for your reply. The migration document I shared above only explains what to expect after the migration is completed. To migrate a staging site to your production site, you may want to seek assistance from your hosting provider if you’re not familiar with hosting tools and features. Alternatively, you can try following the steps outlined in this guide: hidden link
Oh, well, it seems I was not clear. I'm hosting on Siteground and it is easy to deploy a staging site to the production environment. However, as the site is running there are several things changed on the live production site I want to keep.
So, the question boils down to what databases, plugins, and other stuff do I have to migrate using a custom deploy? What (perhaps) hidden things do I have to think of? Of course I will make a backup of my production site before I even start the migration so I can always revert.
I just need a head start to avoid a lot of pain....
I hope you can and are willing to help me out here as I am very hesitant to start the process without knowing what's needed and what to expect.
Thanks for the clarification. That’s very helpful, and your hesitation is completely understandable. Since you’re using SiteGround, you’re correct that deploying from staging to production is usually straightforward. However, because there are ongoing changes on your production site that you want to preserve, this needs to be handled as a selective or custom deployment.
Please note that WPML does not manage or perform staging to production deployments. This process is entirely handled by your hosting provider or by the migration tool you choose to use.
As an alternative, you may want to note down all changes made on the production site, perform a full migration from staging to production, and then reapply those production changes afterward on the newly migrated site.
