Background of the issue:
I have a developer page that is a subdomain of my production site. I want to automatically translate everything on the developer site so that the live site remains unchanged. After completing all translations on the developer site, I want to migrate it to the production site, which is not a subdomain.

Symptoms:

Questions:
Is it possible to migrate translations from the developer site to the production site without affecting the live site?
Do I need to double pay my credits for both the developer and production sites since they are two domains?
What's the best process for achieving this migration?

Hi there and thank you for reaching out.

All the translations are saved inside the database and you will not be charged again for the same translation.

To migrate your site, I recommend using the following plugin:

You can find the documentation here:

Here's a brief tutorial on how to use Duplicator:

This plugin should easily handle the URL-replacing process, too.

After migration, register WPML on your new site and enter the new key:
Log in to your WPML account >> go to the "Sites" page (https://wpml.org/account/sites/) >> Remove your old site domain from there >> add your new site >> it will provide you with a new key which you can add to your site in Plugins > Add new > Commercial.

As long as the migration process runs successfully, there should be no issues.

I hope you find this information helpful 🙂

Please let me know how things go.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei
