I've created my site using Elementor Pro and I'm also using Crocoblock Jet engine for creating custom post types and pages and I'm translating my website from French to English.
Several Elementor text widgets are not recognized or translated by WPML when the text widget uses the Advanced text field type.
In the WPML 01 screenshot, you can see the Elementor editor and the text in French that should be translated into English. I'm using an Elementor text widget set to Advanced text field type to allow for more control over the text style.
In WPML 02 screenshot, you'll see the text has stayed French and hasn't been translated.
In WPML 03 screenshot, the Elementor text widget isn't recognized as text to be translated. I only have a field labeled "Insert your content here". It doesn't even show me the original text so I can do a manual translation.
I'm new to WPML so I hope you can help me with this issue that pops up, probably everywhere I've used an Elementor text widget in advanced mode.
Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.
1) First of all, sorry for the late reply due to a higher workload. Please login to this sandbox site and install Elementor. (hidden link)
After that, please create a page using the same text widget. If the issue is replicable, please let me know the steps to reproduce it.
2) It's not related to the issue, but according to your Debug.info, the WP memory limit needs to be increased. PHP memory is fine, but WordPress uses 40Mb as default. The minimum requirements for WPML are 128 MB. (Kindly check this page https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/)
You can increase it by adding the following code in your wp-config.php file right before the /* That's all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */ line:
1- I went through all the steps using your sandbox site and I didn't encounter any issues. As you can see in the attached screenshot, the text is recognized and allows me to create a manual translation. (sandbox page translation 08062023.png)
I couldn't recreate the issue in the sandbox.
2- I increased the memory limit to 256M as suggested by editing my wp-config.php but I still have the same issue on my staging site. (staging page translation 08062023.png)
Thanks for your update. I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
– preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible –
in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.
Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.
❌ Please backup your database and website ❌
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate the Plugins and the Theme and change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is critical.
✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.
Thanks for the access details. I checked the issue and found that you don't use the default Elementor widget. You used another text widget, which caused the issue.
In order to fix the issue, please check the following steps:
1- Go to WPML-> Settings-> Custom XML tab
2- Add the following code
