This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is experiencing an Error 500 when trying to edit the Dutch homepage of their site. This issue is linked to a PHP memory limit being exhausted, as indicated by the error log showing a fatal error in
wp-includes/meta.php
. Solution: We recommend increasing the PHP memory limit. You should contact your hosting provider to request an increase of the PHP memory limit to 512MB. Concurrently, adjust the WordPress memory limit to 512MB in your
wp-config.php
file. This adjustment should help resolve the Error 500. If the issue persists, consider disabling other plugins temporarily to reduce memory usage, allowing you to edit the homepage.
Please note that this solution might be outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem continues, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Hello there,
If I understood it correctly you reached out to us before regarding this issue and we identified W3 Total Cache as the culprit of the issue? Can you kindly let me know if it a chat session or a ticket? I looked for it to try to getg more context about the issue but I couldn't find it.
Regarding the issue to register the W3 plugin, did you manage to contact their support to see if they could help you with this specific issue?
Thank you, please let me know so I can define the next steps for us to fix this issue.

Hello,
I understand, thank you for the information.
Did you manage to get help from W3 support about the plugin license issue you were facing?
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Our Debugging Procedures
I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link
Please, let me know if you need any additional details. Have a nice day.

Hello there,
I checked it and trying to edit the home page is producing the following error:
[20-Aug-2024 19:03:10 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes) in wp-includes/meta.php on line 1194
Disabling WPML or W3 gets the error temporarily fixed because the memory usage seems to decrease when either of them are disabled.
If you create a test site and disable all other plugins but let WPML and W3 enabled you'll be able to edit the home page as well because disabling the other plugins will cause the memory usage to go down.
I checked it and your WordPress and PHP memory limit are set to 256mb. I'd recommend reaching out to your hosting support to get the PHP memory limit set to 512mb so that you can increase the WP memory limit to 512mb as well to try to fix this issue.
Thank you, please give it a try and let us know the results.
Mateus
