This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is trying to translate the footer into French on their website, but the footer is not displaying in French as expected.
Solution:
1. Check the WP Memory Limit in WPML → Support. If it's below 128M, increase it to at least 128M.
2. Go to WPML → String Translation and delete any translated strings that aren't appearing on the site.
3. In the Utilities section, enable the option to auto-register untranslated strings.
4. View the page in French on the frontend to help WPML detect and register the string again.
5. Return to WPML → String Translation and retranslate the string.
6. Ensure you are translating the correct string, as similar strings may exist in different domains.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be due to the footer content being generated by theme options, widgets, or a page builder, which often require domain-specific string registration. Use WPML's "Translate texts in admin screens" tool to locate footer strings if not found in standard String Translation. Confirm the footer is not rendered via hardcoded template files which may bypass WPML registration. If necessary, scan PHP templates.
If the problem persists, we recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the solution provided here is outdated or not applicable to your case, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
