This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is unable to switch languages using the language switcher on their static homepage after switching to a Hello Elementor child theme, despite the homepage being translated into both languages.
Solution:
We recommend the following steps to resolve the issue:
1. Navigate to Settings > General in your WordPress Dashboard.
2. Verify that the Site URL and WordPress URL are correctly defined (they should both be set to your site's URL).
3. Go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting and click on the following buttons:
- Disable cache for language switcher templates
- Clear the cache in WPML
- Assign translation status to duplicated content
- Set language information
4. Clear the caches from your site and browser, then check the language switcher functionality again.
