[Resolved] How to use with Elementor, not use any credits, translate ONLY by myself.
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is having difficulty using the 'Translate Myself' option with WPML and Elementor. They are unsure how to paste blocks of text instead of translating sentence by sentence. The client also wants to know how to stop automatic translations and credits usage, and how to update translations when the original page is updated. Additionally, they are seeking to change the language switcher to display language codes instead of full names.
Solution: 1. To change the translation mode, go to WPML > Settings and select "Translate what you choose" to avoid automatic translations. Automatic Translation documentation 2. For manual translation, duplicate the page with Elementor, switch the language from the top bar, and edit with Elementor. Manual Translation documentation 3. To translate independently and avoid updates to the original page affecting the translation, click "Translate Independently" after duplicating the page. 4. Recover any credits by clicking "Undo translation" to remove automatic translations. 5. For the language switcher issue, a separate ticket was created: Language Switcher ticket
Please note that the solution provided might be outdated or not applicable to your case. If the issue persists, we recommend opening a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at WPML Known Issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. I can't find any helpful documentation or videos (especially videos!) on how to use Translate Myself? (I find this documentation very lacking unless I am missing something, there is only one page on this topic)
Also, WPML translation screen goes sentence by sentence (see attached), our page is in blocks of text in Elementor. Is there any way just to paste in our block of text in Elementor? Is there any support for Elementor? (Sentence by sentence seems slow and wrong, I thought this would be quick and easy, just copy and paste - is there a way to do that?)
And why did it take credits and do Automatic Translation if I selected Translate Myself and everything I have entered has been translating ourselves since we only need one language and have our own translators? How do I shut off Automatic and Credits completely?
This will allow you to duplicate a page created with Elementor from the default language into another language, and then you can switch the language from the top bar in the backend, and then go to Pages > hover over the duplicated page > and select "Edit with Elementor".
This way, you can use Elementor for the translation, too, and you can have full control over the layout. So, practically, you can click on any Elementor block and manually translate (like you did in the default language) or delete everything and create a completely new layout for the translation.
I hope that you will find this information helpful. 🙂
PS2: You can recover any credits by clicking on the top button "Undo translation" - which will remove all the automatic translations and will allow you to add the translation on your own.
Also, I put the Language Switcher in the header but we want to use just "EN" and "ES" instead of English and Espanol because then it will also fit in the mobile menu. How can I do this? thanks

Yes, that would duplicate the page from the default language to the other language.
Clicking the "Translate independently" button will disconnect the two so that your content won't be overwritten in the secondary language when you make an update in the default language.
You will need to use the Elementor builder and change the media in each Elementor edit page, for each of the languages.
In regards to the new question, per our Support Policy, we can handle only one issue per ticket.
Continuing with one issue per ticket helps not only supporters to focus on one issue at once, but also enables other users to find solutions to their questions faster.
I am responding to the other ticket soon and you will be notified via email.
I hope that you will find all this information helpful.
