I implemented all of the settings as you advised including the ones accessible when you click on "show system fields" and went back and tested a translation within the about page in stage.nicaseeker.com, saved, returned and it had reverted to the English version again. So unfortunately the issue is not solved. |

Also, I just went through your settings for Custom Fields Translation and I can see that despite following your instructions and rescanning, some continue not to show, e.g. It's a big file, so hopefully you can access this Google Drive link, because I can't upload a pdf and the .png file is too large: hidden link |

I suggest you translate all taxonomies at WPML > Taxonomy Translation - I already went ahead and translated labels and slugs. On your site, "Enable Multi Directory" is not enabled, and there is not yet a Directory Type declared at Directory Listings > Directory Builder. The fields at WPML > Settings > Custom Term Meta Translation have not yet been configured. I suggest setting them to "Copy" and have adjusted these settings for you now. It might be that some of these fields actually include values that might need to be translated, like for example the fields with the suffix "_label" but this would be something to investigate once everything is translated. Further, your listings are not yet translated. You will need to translate or duplicate the listing to make it available in a second language. Are you not planning to translate the listings? I see Directorist has locked the setting for listing to be translatable. It would be advisable to translate or duplicate them. We can also offer hooks that automatically duplicate listings once they are published on the backend and frontend. If there are not listings existing in a second languages, it would be expected to not get any results in second languages. |

Hi Andreas, Thank you for your response. Following up on some of your points: 1) "On your site, "Enable Multi Directory" is not enabled, and there is not yet a Directory Type declared at Directory Listings > Directory Builder." Should I do this even though I do not wish to use Multi Directory and want to focus solely on Business Directory? 2) "Further, your listings are not yet translated. You will need to translate or duplicate the listing to make it available in a second language. Are you not planning to translate the listings?" Yes, I will be translating all listings and will most likely do this automatically as to do it manually will be far too time consuming. However, I'm not sure how this will impact on the SEO for the Spanish version? What do people normally do here? 3) "I see Directorist has locked the setting for listing to be translatable. It would be advisable to translate or duplicate them." - If they are locked, how do overcome this? 4) "We can also offer hooks that automatically duplicate listings once they are published on the backend and frontend." - Can you please elaborate what this means please as I'm not quite following. 5) "If there are not listings existing in a second languages, it would be expected to not get any results in second languages." Yes, agreed, but right now, my translation attempts on my About page are not being saved so I haven't been able to. move forwards with any translations as presumably what happens on the About page will happen everywhere? Thank you again! |

Sorry for the misunderstanding, as I misunderstood that you are actually going to use Listing Direcotries. The listing should be translated. For now, it would be expected that, for example, the translated homepage is not showing any results, as there are no listings existing in the second language. The "About" page is yet only translated to 54%. Then translating a page or post for the first time, the translation needs to be completed to 100%, so that the translation becomes published. The reason for that might be that you were using automatic translation and right now there are only 144 Prepaid credits left, which might not be enough to complete the translation. You can assign the translation to yourself from WPML > Translation Dashboard and then access it a WPML > Translations to complete the translation inside the WPML Translation Editor. |

Hello again Andreas, Can I please confirm what you mean when you say To clarify, I absolutely will be translating all the existing listings in the Business Listings Directory. BUT the other Directories are hidden and there's nothing there to be translated. In due course, I do plan on creating additional Diretories - a Marketplace and a Needs Listing Directory but that is not going to be for quite some time. However, with the Directorist bug that prevents the switching off of multi-directories, the ones I'm not using are still visible on your sandbox. In stage.nicaseeker.com my developer has fixed the bug. I only assigned 2000 credits to my stage.nicaseeker.com site in total, so I don't accidentally use a stack of credits unintentionally. However, I think I have 90,000 with my plan that can be assigned right? I had a shock when you said I only have 144 credits left ... I think 144 credits is what I've USED - surely not what I have left as I only translated a few strings in testing. Everything else I've translated manually. I'm attaching screenshots of my account where I hope what I'm seeing is correct regarding what's been used and what I have left. I also thought that I had set my settings so there is NO automatic translation? If this is not the case, can you please show me where I need to change the settings. If you're right, and I've somehow used almost 2000 credits but have no automatic translation to show for it, except for about 100 words I translated in the strings translation section when I was testing, is there anything that can be done about this as that's a huge loss of money with no benefits at all? I'm attaching screenshots of the settings where I thought I had made sure no translations take place automatically. I can't trranslate any more of the About page because nothing I translate is saving - so I can't get it past 54% as per the loom I shared with you. Going back to this in my last message: could you please respond? 3) "I see Directorist has locked the setting for listing to be translatable. It would be advisable to translate or duplicate them." - If they are locked, how do overcome this? Many thanks |

Good morning Andreas, Apologies for yet another message, but here's a loom showing that sometimes the translations save and then after a few, they stop working - the save to translation memory greys out and nothing else saves. A few at a time, then the rest get lost. And I don't think it's that I've selected the wrong settings in WPML, because one translation marked "text" on the translation page will save and another won't - same with different field classifications. hidden link, Many thanks for your perseverence and patience! My apologies, as I can now see that the issue regarding "General" and Business" directories is persisting on my test site. I will create a separate escalated ticket for this issue today. --- Also, kindly take note that I will be glad to look into any issue that you are currently having on your site, but it becomes difficult to handle such issues effectively if they are all handled on the same ticket. We recommend always opening one ticket or chat per issue, so that we make sure that all your concerns are addressed properly. --- Regarding your last comment about translations not completing as expected, I have created a new ticket here, on which I will reply shortly: --- Regarding the question about the "Listings" translation preference setting: --- Regarding credits: Only the monthly free credits have been used so far. According to the report, it looks like they were used to translate "Other texts (string)" - see WPML > String Translation. If you have any issues with assigning credits from your wpml.org account to your site, please let me know. |

To solve the issue about Directory Listings, go to Directory Listings > Directory Builder. You will see a list with "General" and "Business" on my test site. Business is set as default. Now, switch the language in the top admin bar. On my test site, the default in German was set to "General". See screenshot. I was able to adjust this manually by clicking on the three dots icon on the directory entry and selecting "Mark as default". This solved the issue on my test site. Solution: |

Hi Andreas, Thank you for your emails. Responding to the issue about the mutli-directories, I have made a loom to show that it's not an issue on my site, as my developer has fixed the bug. Not sure whether I would need to go ahead and translate other directories I have switched off and don't plan on using but please advise if I am understanding you correctly: hidden link I have also commented on Directorist claiming all compatability issues have been fixed, thanks to an updated Directorist Elementor Addons Kit plugin update that they claim to have uploaded to my site. However, the plugin is the same version it's always been and I think it's just incompentence on their part in the usual way - they think they've updated a plugin but in reality they haven't. I'm attaching screenshots showing the live site (that I told them explicitly never to access - I have even changed the password to prevent it so I have no idea how they got in) and the staging site where the old version of the plugin remains. Many thanks |

Regarding the question about the "Listings" translation preference setting: "The author of the directorist seems to recommend always translating the listings, which is why you see a lock at WPML > Settings > Post Types translation > Listing. You can click the lock to unlock the post type and then change the translation preference, and for example, use the "Fallback" Settings, which would display the original listings in all languages if a translation does not exist. Anyhow, I would truly recommend translating the listings." I fully intend to translate the listings - and I thought I had said this in my last two responses - so wanted to check that we are not at cross purposes here. Given that I intend to translate listings, the Directorist default setting that is locked should be left as it is right? Credits Used I honestly thought I had used 144 credits and am a little upset about using more as I have nothing to show for it. The link you shared just goes to the home page - I can't see a link where I can see what I have used other than what I shared with you in my screenshot. Can you please advise how I can make sure I don't use any additional credits through undesired automatic translation? And is there any scope for reversing the use of the credits that have been used as 144 credits as a test was all that was intended and on the wpml.org account details, it says only 144 credits have been used. Certainly not almost the full 2000 assigned to the site. Many thanks in advance. |

You need to go to Directory Listings > Directory Builder and set up the directory settings for each language. You can switch the language in the top admin bar to set the settings for directories in a second language. |

Hi Andreas, I've made a loom to make the situation a little clearer, because I think we are at crossed purposes. The Directorist bug prevents you disabling multiple directories - all you can do is set one as default. So, on my site, my developer has disabled multi-directories altogether and I cannot override this to apply the settings you've advised. So, my question is, does this prevent WPML from working correctly? hidden link I've found another Directorist error that I've reproduced in a separate ticket. I'll try translating another page and see if I can get it to save implementing the advice you've given about links, bold and other aspects. Should I create a separate ticket for the ongoing issue regarding the Directorist Elementor Addon Kit incompatability resulting in the search bar being untranslatable? Many thanks |

My apologies if I might have confused you, but as far as I understand, "Directorist" you need to have at least one "Directory" set up on the plugin. At least one default directory also shows up if Multi-Directories are disabled. When using WPML, you will need to make sure to set the settings for this directory in both languages. You need to go to Directory Listings > Directory Builder and set up the directory settings for each language. You can switch the language in the top admin bar to set the settings for directories in a second language. There, you set up which forms will be used for this language and so on. |
