This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client needed to translate their homepage using the WPML translation editor but encountered issues where the '+' icon redirected to the Translations Queue without displaying the page. Additionally, the translation page, previously a duplicate, was deleted and not saving changes for the Russian (RU) version, despite working for other languages.
Solution:
1. **Update WPML Plugins:**
- Navigate to Plugins → Add New Plugin in the WordPress dashboard.
- Click on the Commercial tab and then the Check for updates button.
- Update the listed WPML plugins.
2. **Clear Stuck Translation Jobs and Resend the Homepage:**
- Go to WPML → Translation Dashboard → Jobs tab, cancel any stuck translation jobs.
- Edit the homepage in the default language, make a minor edit, save, and resend for translation.
3. **Access the Translation Editor:**
- After resending, navigate to WPML → Translations and click Translate next to the homepage.
4. **Resave Permalinks and Clear Caching:**
- Navigate to Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes.
- Clear caches through any caching plugins or server settings.
5. **Verify Translated Page Status and Ensure Publication:**
- Check the page status in Pages → All Pages, ensure it's set to Published, and update.
6. **Run WPML Troubleshooting Tools:**
- Navigate to WPML → Support → Troubleshooting and run tools like Clear cache in WPML and Remove ghost entries from the translation tables.
If these steps do not resolve the issue or if the solution becomes outdated, we recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins.
