This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is trying to update French translations using XLIFF files but encounters issues. Initially, there was an error stating 'Translation does not belong to you'. After importing an XLIFF, a message indicated that a new job was created, but the client is unsure how to publish these translations.
Solution:
1) We recommend providing WPML support debug information to help us better understand the issue. You can find this option under WPML → Support on your site, and then click on the 'debug information' link. More details can be found here: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/
2) Ensure that the XLIFF file you are importing matches the original translation job. If there are discrepancies, you might need to adjust the XLIFF file as outlined in our documentation: https://wpml.org/faq/the-uploaded-xliff-file-doesnt-belong-to-this-system/
3) If issues persist, consider cancelling any related translation jobs from Translation Management > Jobs, resend the page for translation, export the new XLIFF, translate it, and then import it back. This ensures the XLIFF will be imported correctly as a corresponding translation job exists.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to update French translations using XLIFF files delivered by our translator on the site streamwisechamplain.org, which is under development. I am able to log in as the translator.

Symptoms:
Initially, I received a 'Translation does not belong to you' error. When importing an XLIFF, I received a success message that a new job was created.

Questions:
How do I publish these translations?

Hello,

1) In order to expedite handling your support requests, can you please share WPML support debug information from your site.

- To give debug information, login to your site and go to WPML → Support. From there click on the “debug information” link at the bottom of the page.
- Once on the “debug information” page, select the entire content of the text box and copy it.
- Now go back to our support forum, find debug information box and paste it.

More information on the link: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

2) It could be that the XLIFF you are importing is not the same or was not exported from the same translation job. You can try to adjust it as explained in our docs: https://wpml.org/faq/the-uploaded-xliff-file-doesnt-belong-to-this-system/

3) Another way would be to cancel any related translation job from Translation Management> Jobs, and then resend page for translation again, export that XLIFF, translate, and then import it back. That way XLIFF will be imported correctly, as a translation job exists.

Drazen

Hello,

thanks,

Can you please other suggestions also, as I suspect that you are trying to import XLIF that doesn't belong to any existing translation jobs?

Thanks,
Drazen

Hello. My translator was able to update some translation and successfully re-import it as you suggested in #3 above. It seems that some site content edits made during the translation process had caused the import error.
