<b>Background of the issue: </b>
Yesterday we got help in that ticket https://wpml.org/forums/topic/there-is-no-translate-selected-strings-option-in-a-string-translation-2/. After that, we recognized that emojis turned into "?". Restoring the site doesn't help. I don't know how to contact supporter Shekhar Bhandari, please help!

<b>Symptoms: </b>
Emojis turned into "?" after support help.

<b>Questions: </b>
Did you change any unicode or something else that became a reason of losing emojis?

Hello there,

As I mentioned in my another support reply, I only made changes in the theme functions.php.

Also, I see the issue is happening on the default language so I think this is happening due to some conflict.

To debug this issue further, I would need to check your site settings once, for this I would need temporary access (wp-admin and ftp) to your site.

So could you please provide me with those details, you will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply.

Have you found the reason? Maybe Unicode was changed after backup? Can you check and fix that?

Hello there,

I checked this post: hidden link and I can see the following text in default language

? 3 Star Rider Days
? 100 Star Coins
? Beautiful Rabbit

Then I went here and checked the revisions for the post: hidden link

The ? was there 3 months ago too, also you mentioned that using the backup didn't help, so I can confirm that this has not happened due to change what we did yesterday.

Also, since this is happening on default language, I don't think this is due to WPML. I would suggest you to reach out to your host and ask if they have backups from a week ago to see if that helps.

If not, I suggest you to disable all non-WPML plugins, switching to one of the default themes, and checking whether the issue still persists or not?

Please remember to create a backup of your site (both files and the database) before making any updates or changes. This is always a good practice.

Also, it's almost my end of shift so I will be back on Monday, if you need urgent help, I suggest you to open a chat.

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks
