This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing issues with their website's design falling apart and not translating correctly after using WPML to translate from Japanese to English.
Solution:
We recommended performing a WPML reset to revert the site to its state before the WPML installation. This process involves deleting languages and plugin data. For detailed instructions on how to perform a WPML reset, please follow this guide: Deleting Languages and Plugin Data by Doing a WPML Reset on Your Site.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hello Christopher,

I have a few questions for you.

1. After installing WPML, the original Japanese content has completely disappeared. I'd like to know why.

2. When WPML is installed and translation is performed, is the original Japanese content copied to the English content structurally?

3. Is there any prospect of recovering everything?

4. If recovery is not possible, please tell me if direct recovery is difficult.

I think I understand the explanation of the WPML site, but I'm worried about whether I can use it effectively. I'm not sure if my understanding of the basics of WPML is insufficient.
I need to decide soon whether I can use the WPML plugin effectively.
I would appreciate any advice that would be beneficial to my business going forward.

Regards,
Yoshihiko

Yoshihiko,

Would you please check this video where I gave the details on what to do to fix the points you have mentioned?

hidden link

Video Summary:

- The issue was caused by many incorrect WPML settings, likely from a previous configuration.

- Toolset Views and several custom fields were incorrectly set as translatable and were corrected.

- The Solutions section now works correctly in English; only two items appear because only two entries exist.

- The footer text was missing translation and was fixed via WPML → String Translation.

- The blog configuration and categories were incorrectly set and have now been properly translated.

- If you want more items to appear in the Solutions section, you must add more entries.

- I could not find the products or membership items you mentioned; please send the frontend URLs so I can check them.

Thanks.

Hello Christopher

I deeply appreciate your support.
Thanks to your feedback, I understand that many of the errors in my WPML settings complicated the translation issue.
Therefore, I have decided to do the following, and I would appreciate your understanding:
1. Please temporarily suspend support.
2. Revert the upcwd.com site content to its state before the WPML installation.
3. Continue domestic business on the Japanese site (upcwd.com).
4. Continue to deepen my understanding of the WPML plugin.
5. In the future, when using the WPML plugin, I will be careful to check that the settings are correct before running it.

Thank you.

Warm Regards,
Yoshihiko

Hi Yoshihiko,

To do that, you will need to do as follows:

Thanks.
