This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client reported that all Dutch translations for their WooCommerce products were missing, and the products were displayed in English instead of Dutch. Other languages like German and French were unaffected.
Solution:
We explained that WPML does not modify the original content but creates a secondary database entry for translations linked to the original. If WPML is deactivated, the issue with the translations would likely persist. We recommended that the client check their logs to isolate the issue and gather more details about why the Dutch content is appearing in English.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket.

Background of the issue:
Hi,

All our Dutch translations are gone.. All our WooCommerce products, except for some that we added the latests weeks, are not in English... The English version is also in English, and other languages (German and France) seem uneffected and still have their own language.

How can we resolve this as soon as possible? Over 60+ products now don't have their original optimized content anymore for god knows how long....

Example:
hidden link

Best regards,

Tim

Symptoms:
All Dutch product translations are gone, and Dutch products are displayed in English. Other languages are unaffected.

Questions:
How can I restore the missing Dutch product translations?

I made a type above. "Are not in English" should be "are now in English". So all our Dutch WooCommerce content (only the product descriptions it seems) are in English on our Dutch webshop. We are on the latest update.

Additionally, all our products also show translations needs to be updated. And that same menu in the product overview page seems a bit bugged.

Hi,

The broken columns you can fix by deactivating some affected columns on the "Screen Options" on the top-right.

I would eventually also need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site
– preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible –
in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed

Your next answer will be private which means only you and I have access to it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I would additionally need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme, and to change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is really important.

✙ Please add the Links to the […] Edit Screen, the Page/Post where you insert the […] and the corresponding Front End Page/Screen

Best Regards,
Marcel

Hi Tim,

Thanks for your message!

I’m having trouble reproducing the issue. You mentioned that the Dutch translations are missing, but since Dutch is the original language of your site and isn’t managed by WPML, this seems unexpected.

I checked your example (hidden link), and it loads correctly in Dutch as the original language. Could you provide more details on how to reproduce the issue?

Best regards,
Marcel

Hi Marcel,

The issue is that out of nowhere the product descriptions are in English for our products. Also for the example mentioned:
hidden link

This wasn't the case before, somehow this happened to only the description but for all our products except newly added once.

Any idea what has caused this?

Hi,

thanks for the clarification. This issue concerns your original language content, which we don’t control. WPML creates a secondary database entry for translations, linked to the original, but it does not modify the original content.

If you deactivate WPML, the issue will likely persist. As for why the content appears in English instead of Dutch, I can’t provide a definitive answer since we have no control over the original database entry. I recommend checking your logs and isolating the issue to gather more details.

Best regards,
Marcel
