This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client wants to remove the language switcher flags from the header/top bar and only have it in the footer. Additionally, the client has translated strings at the top of each page, but the translations are not appearing on the Japanese page.

Solution:
1) To remove the language switcher from the header/top bar, we recommend checking if you are using the default menu language switcher from WPML -> Languages -> Menu language switcher section. If so, you can delete it by clicking the red "X" icon.

2) If the language switcher is not in the WPML settings, it might be added through your theme options. Please check your theme options for a setting that might be displaying the language switcher. If you inspect the language switcher element in your browser, you may find code indicating a custom language switcher added by the theme.

If this solution doesn't look relevant, please open a new support ticket.

Hi there,

How do I get rid of the language switcher flags in the header/top bar? I want to have it only in the footer at the bottom of each page?

Also, I have translated the two strings at the top of each page showing phonenumbher and email but the translation is not showing on my jp page. Is this a cache issue?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support, I will be happy to help you today.

1) Can you please tell me how are you adding the language switcher on the header (are you using the default menu language switcher or a shortcode/custom one)?

If you are using the default menu language switcher form WPML -> Languages -> Menu language switcher section, you can simply delete it by clicking the red "X" icon (Please check attached image).

2) On the links you sent, the two strings at the top of the page on my end show translated(as shown on the attached image).

Let me know if you have any more questions or you need more help.

Kind regards,
Marsel

Hi there, I don't seem to have a language switcher set up for the main menu/header so not sure why its showing one there?

Maybe I have a custom one without realising?

Hi,

Can you please check your theme options, it looks like there must be an option that displays that language switcher (please check the image attached)?

If you inspect the language switcher using the browser you'll see that code, which looks like a custom language switcher from the theme itself.

Looking forward to your reply,
Marsel
