This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing issues where manual changes to your homepage in Italian cause the English and German translations to revert back to the original automatic translations.
Solution:
We have identified a related issue which you can review here: Editing Translated Posts Directly Can Result in Lost Content. To prevent your translations from reverting, we recommend deactivating the WPML String Translation plugin while editing the translations. Please test this scenario by deactivating the plugin and then making changes to see if the problem persists.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Hi,

Thank you for the details. So for the front end change I think it merits to create a report, but for the backend I could not replicate the problem. I created a video to show you:

Would you please give me the steps to do to replicate the issue when only changes are done on WordPress Dashboard and not the front end of the website?

Thank you very much

Hi,

Thank you for the video. Your method again used the front-end editor at the beginning for the English version, and that caused the issue.

The issue is the usage of the front enditor in the first place.

If you keep only using the backend editor for both English and Italian, the issue does not happen. As soon as the front end editor is used on either language, just clicking the save button causes the issue.

For now, I will report the issue for the front end Editor.

While our compatibility team will work on the issue, I'd appreciate it if you could contact the Bild Builder developers and share the same website where you replicated the issue so they also can give their input, as they are the ones who know their code the best.

I will get back to you if I have news from the compatibility team.

Thanks.

Hi,

I found out this problem that we released today:

https://wpml.org/errata/editing-translated-posts-directly-can-result-in-lost-content/

The issue seems to be related to your scenario. I tested on the clean installation and indeed if I deactivate String translation, it does not overwrite the content even if used on the front end editor.

Woudl you please test the scenario by deactivating WPML String Translation plugin while editing the translation?

Does the overwrite problem happen?

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes please if you check on your live website it would be great. I am almost certain that the string translation plugin is the culprit and it is already reported.

But just too make sure.

Thanks,
