This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing issues with media translation not working within the Unlimited Element Carousel Widget using the WPML plugin. They are seeking a way to manage media names for different languages and ensure that the media translates correctly across different language versions of the site.

Solution:
1. Install and Activate WPML Media Translation: Ensure that the WPML Media Translation add-on is installed and activated.
2. Enable Automatic Media Text Translation: Go to WPML β†’ Settings, scroll to the Media Translation section, and turn on 'Automatically detect best options for translating image texts'.
3. Translate the Page with the Carousel: Use the WPML Translation Dashboard to send the page containing the carousel for translation.
4. Replace Media in WPML Media Translation: Assign different images for each language by using the WPML Media Translation tool.
5. Re-save Your Elementor Page: After updating media translations, re-save the original page in Elementor to refresh content and apply new translation settings.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, or if the solution seems outdated or not applicable to your specific case, we recommend opening a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hi Kor,

Image 7 in the EN test switch perfectly to image 5 in the FR test. (see attached images)

Since all of my files ALREADY have been media Translated with the _FR add-on to the file name, what am I doing wrong?

OR what have you don in the STAGING site?

remember that my real site has all of the media Links and ONLY the carousel widget is being affected.

Please review my previous messages and image links

Thanks for your reply. I will need to check your production site. Could you please backup your production site so that I can check?

Also, I need your permission to create a test page for troubleshooting purposes.

Kor

Thanks for your reply.

I've prepared this test page hidden link and uploaded an image into a "Coverflow Carousel" widget.

Then, I translated it into French here hidden link

Next, I used the media translation to translate the image. All works fine as shown in the attached.

Could you upload the images to the test page and try translating them using media translation?

Hi Kor,

IT WORKED!!!! (see image)

THANKS A MILLIONS!!

Can you tell me what you did and how to proceed now?

1. Do I need to start my carousels over OR can you adjust it to my current carousel list (from my previous list provided)

2. I now have 2 WEBSITES (as previously explained) can you make the change on the other website as well?...I will provide the URL like privately.

3. And LASTYLY, can you help me fix the language switcher speed and accuracy?
I often need to CLIKC TWICE on the FR icon for it to switch (and sometimes it switches back to WEN when we navigate to another page.

Can you fix that as well πŸ™‚

Thanks for your reply. The reason is that you're translating the images using the Advanced Translation Editor and manually updating the URLs. This is not the correct step, and you need to recreate the carousel. Then, replace the images using the Media Translation Addon.

Also, please back up and update WPML on your other Websites and then use the Media Translation to translate the images.

I've split your ticket here https://wpml.org/forums/topic/language-switcher-not-working-correctly-2/ so that we can follow up with your language switcher issue.
