This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client's site breaks every time there is a WPML update, displaying only links instead of the expected page content.
Solution:
We recommend updating WPML and other plugins or themes in a staging environment before applying changes to the live site. This approach is considered best practice to avoid disruptions on your live site. After performing the update in the staging environment, please inform us so we can analyze the situation if the issue persists.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should the problem continue, please open a new support ticket with us for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I was trying to update WPML on my site. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link

Symptoms:
My site breaks every time there is a WPML update. Instead of the expected page, I only see links.

Questions:
Why does my site break when there is a new WPML update available?

While one of my teammates addresses your ticket, I will provide you with initial debugging steps.

Have you tried clearing your site’s and server's cache? Are you using the latest version of the WPML plugin and its add-ons, specifically version 4.7.1?

You can check the latest released versions under "My Account -> Downloads" on our website. Instructions for updating can be found here: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/.

If you do not see the updates, you may need to click the "Check for updates" button in the Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab.

Please remember to back up your database before proceeding.

Hi,

Since we can't reproduce the issue, there's not much we can do from our side. Please note that WPML does not control your default language, so it cannot cause issues with the original language.

I recommend the following:

Next time, update first on a hidden link">staging environment instead of a live site. This applies to all plugins, themes, and WPML core and is considered best practice.

When you perform the update on your test environment, let us know so we can take a closer look and analyze what exactly happened.

Best regards,
Marcel
