This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are experiencing a 404 error when trying to access translated pages on your website. You expected to see the homepage translated into French, but instead, you encounter a 404 page.
Solution:
We have identified that the issue might be related to your server's permalink structure. Currently, your permalink settings are configured as

/index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

. We recommend modifying your permalink structure by removing the '/index.php/' part, which could be causing the issue with the translated pages not displaying correctly.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I am trying to check if the translated pages appear correctly on my website. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link. I expected to see the homepage translated in French.

Symptoms:
When I click on a translated page, I get a 404 page instead of the expected content.

Questions:
Why am I seeing a 404 page when accessing a translated page?
How can I ensure that translated pages appear correctly?

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

It looks like there’s a server configuration issue that’s preventing the path from being resolved correctly. I noticed the following permalink structure in Settings → Permalinks:

/index.php/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

Please try testing this by removing '/index.php/' from your permalink structure. This part is not expected and might be causing the issue.
