Hello,

on my website, hidden link, I have updated the buttons in the original language. Do I have to make this for all the languages?? Or is there a way that the page updates on all languages when something is changed?
Thank you!

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support, I will be happy to help you.

- Could you please tell me to which buttons are you referring to (feel free to send an image/video link)?

* Normally when you edit a page/post in the original language, after you are done it will be needed to update the translations as well (you will notice that the icon next to the translation languages will change on the post/page editor).

Looking forward to your reply,
Marsel

The website is hidden link, find attached a screenshot that points to the buttons I am referring to (in a red circle).

Also, I think the translation page loads very slowly, even if I have a one-page website. Do you have any suggestions to improve this?

PS: I did not receive an email saying that you have replied.

Thank you very much,
Carmen

Hi,

Thank you for the information.

1) If you are using Elementor to build your website, you would need to edit the page/s with Elementor editor (from the wp-admin top bar) in each language of your website.

On the Elementor editor when you click the button element, it should have a link field on the link options panel (usually is on the left side of the Elemetor editor).

2) You can check if by going to WPML -> Settings -> Translate Link Targets section, clicking the button "Scannow and adjust links' it resolves your issue.

Let me how it goes or if you have any questions.

Hello again,

I am not sure we are talking about the same thing 🙂

You said that I need to manually make the edits on each of my language variation pages. I am not talking about text modification, I am talking about buttons and other visual modifications.

I have done the modification on hidden link and I can see some of the changes on the French version, but on the English one no. Why is this happening? I did not edit my button in the French version, but still, it changed.

Is there a way to update these changes for all my languages? It would be an enormous amount of work to manually edit each language page for all of my websites.

Thank you for your patience! 🙂

Hi Carmen,

Thank you for the update.

In order to investigate this issue and understand it better, I would need a temporary access to your website.

Please make a full backup of your site (files and database) and confirm it in your next reply.
* Note: I might need to enable/disable plugins, switch themes and access your website database.

I would need to access both your site's WP-admin and FTP account, please provide both.
Your next reply is set to private for you to provide the username and password details.

You can safely add your information into these fields.

Thanks,
Marsel

Hi Carmen,

Thank you for the access, I was able to check the website and I noticed that the translation of the homepage in English is not complete yet, as shown in the image attached you can translate the links of the buttons by editing the English translation and type "http" on the "Search content in original language" field.

All the links on the page should show up for translation. Once you are done translating the links you just click "complete".

---

As for the French version I am not sure how that might have happened.
Could you please tell me how are you translating the pages?

* I did click on the button "Scan now and adjust links" on the WPML -> Settings page, but it didn't change anything.

Looking forward to your reply,
Marsel

Hello,

there is some information on our website which is valid only for Romanian readers, which is why the English translation looks incomplete.
Usually, I translate the content from the "Pages" menu (see screenshot). Is it not correct?

And once again, I am not talking about text or link updates, I am talking about visual edits on my page. How can I update the buttons, for example? See that in En they look different that in Romanian (screenshot attached)....

Many thanks!

Thanks for the update.

I am sorry for the little misunderstanding.

The way you are translating the pages is correct. To update/fix the button layout, you need to edit the page with Elementor (the english version or the version you are having problems), click on the button element you need to update, and then on the left side you should have the options to edit the button (style included). Please check the attached image.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Are you telling me that manually is the only way to update buttons?? Then what happened to the French version? I didn't modify the buttons manually, they somehow updated.

I would like to find a way to automatically update these types of changes because I have to modify all of my website pages and their translation versions and I think WPML is making my work harder 😅

As this seems an issue related to the CSS styling, could you please try clearing the cache of your website form LiteSpeed Cache plugin as well as any possible cache on the server-side and check if the issue persits?

Also, could you please check the steps suggested on Elementor guide and see if that helps: hidden link

* Note: Please make sure you have a full backup of your website before making any update/changes on your website.

Let me know how if that works for you.

1) I checked further and I notice that on the WPML -> Translation management the templates are not translated (you can see that even if you go to WP-Admin -> Templates -> Saved Templates).

2) On WPML -> String translation I've checked and noticed that the button in french was translated and that's why it was woking (I tested by doing the same for the one in english "BUYER'S GUIDE" and it seems to work correctly).

- Could you please check the guide on how translating websites when using Elementor:
https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/elementor/

Please make sure that your translations are completed and check if the issue persists.

Let me know how it goes,
Marsel

Thanks, it seems to work if I translate "String translations", however, I have 900 strings, and I can't understand why, I have a 2-page website. I have deleted most of my templates, some strings do not appear anymore on my website 🙁

And one more question, string translations and the translation that I make in the Advanced Translation Editor are different? If I translate my content over the Advanced Translation Editor, do I have to translate the strings also? Do I have to do the same thing twice?

February 21, 2024 at 5:02 pm #15329540

Marsel Nikolli

Hi Carmen,

If you use Advanced Translation Editor to translate your content, you generally won't need to manually translate strings separately using the String Translations module. However, if you've hard-coded some strings in your theme or plugins, you might need to manage those in the String Translations section.

Some Elementor elements may generate strings that need translation (e.g., button text, widget titles). Check the "String Translation" section in WPML to translate any strings that are not covered during the main content translation.

* You might need to translate only the buttons from the WPML ->String Translation, you can find the button elements by searching for the button text on WPML ->String Translation .

I would suggest you check a bit further on how Elementor template works, as I noticed that on WP-Admin -> Templates -> Saved Templates, you have just a template (Home-12.02.2024) which is not translated (I am not sure if it is being used at all). At the same time you have the page "Home" which is set as a homepage for your website.

Let me know if you have further questions,
Marsel
