Hi there,

I unfortunately did not understand the issue at hand.

If the issue is happening on one page that is password protected, please test by disabling the password protection and follow the steps below:

- Go to your Dashboard > Pages.
- Open the edit screen of the original page. You should see a pencil/circle/gear icon in the sidebar options under the "Languages" section.
- Make a small change, for example, add an extra blank space at the end of a sentence/paragraph.
- Save it.
- You should now see that a circular arrow appears beside the 2nd language links, this means that an update is required.
- Edit the translation again and save it up to 100% translated.

If the issue persists, please first provide the debug information:

https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/

After that, please provide more detailed information about the issue so I can help.

Thanks.

I have a page called 'ontsleuteld.com/instruction' (original page) that's password protected. The translated page is ontsleuteld.com/nl/instructie with (same) password protected. After a update password filled at ontsleuteld.com/nl/instructie (the translated page) not working! it works at the original page. So not at the translated page.

I've done the thing you replied/said but still not fixed the issue. Also did the things Prosenjit Barman said at another topic. example: uncheck boxes sychonize password, and private flag.

Nothing works and it's really frustrated me. Please help!

Hi there,

Rest assured we will do our best to identify the issue and if there is a bug we will report this for sure.
I tried to follow your explanation and checked the pages below:

hidden link

hidden link

But those pages are not password protected so I could not test and see the issue.

Instead, I tried to create a clean installation of WordPress and WPML which you can also check here:

I configured WPML with English and Dutch languages. I created a password protected page and translated it.

The result is this: (password: test)

hidden link

Just to make sure we are on the same page, if you enter the password on one page, when using the same browser it will also have the dutch page showing.

If you want to test if the Dutch page has password try directly accessing Dutch page by the private (incognito) browser window so you will see that the password protection is there.

So if your website behavior is different, I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

Also tell us which page to check and what is the password for the page.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Thank you for the login information I checked and the issue actually the fact that in the instruction page when you add the password it redirects to the homepage of the website and it does not show the instructions page.

I found out that even on the English page the same thing happens.

That lead me to check if the issue is related to WPML or not.

I deactivated PML and cleared cache and tested and the same redirection to the homepage happens.

So the issue happens even if WPML is deactivated and the WPMNL code is not running.

That shows the issue is not related to WPML and you need to search for either plugin problem.

I suggest that you create a copy of the website and deactivate all the plugins and see if the issue happens, if not, then enable the plugins one by one to see which one causes the issue.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for searching out. The english site works with password and don't redirect to home. I've checked it again, right now. Only the dutch site does weird. I already deactivated all plugins. This time I will do one by one.

Can you guarantee me that's have nothing to do with WPML? Because only the dutch version not working.

----

extra remark:

I've deactivated all plugins and the page turns from : ontsleuteld.com/nl/instructie to ontsleuteld.com/instructie and everyhting works fine. I can log in with password.
If I only activate WPML and then the link turn to ontsleuteld.com/nl/instructie and password is not working. All other plugins are deactivated! So it has definitive do something with WPML.

Hi there,

That is strange, I did not experience that behavior. May I copy your website to our server and test the issue there?

To see if I can see the same thing there?

I checked and it seems you removed the password so it is not possible to test that way.

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes but there are some customers information. If you don't put that on your server it's ok for me. Maybe you can also ask some advise of Prosenjit Barman. He is familiar with this kind of problems. Thanks in advance

Yes, I've saved .htaccess again without changes and then I marked up that the website password only works when you use https:// At http:// is doesn't work.
