This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is planning to transfer their WPML account and change the site key to a new license. They are concerned about whether this change will affect the existing translations or pose any risk of translation removal.
Solution:
We assure you that translations are stored within the database and should not be affected by changing the WPML site key. However, we strongly recommend performing a full website backup before making any changes. This precaution ensures that you can restore your site if any issues arise.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, please check the related known issues and confirm that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, we encourage you to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
Our client would like to transfer the WPML account to their own. We are planning to change the site key to a completely different account with a new license for the site hidden link.

Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.

Questions:
Will changing the site key to a different WPML account affect the existing translations or automatic translations?
Are translations linked to the domain/database rather than the account?
Does changing the site key pose any risk of translation removal?

Hi there.

The translations are saved inside the database, so translations should not be affected by the change of the WPML key.

However, I would always recommend a full website backup first, just so that you can always have a backup to restore to in case something happens with the site.

I hope that you will find this information helpful.
