This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client reinstalled their website and started translations anew. After modifying the English text, the Romanian translation remained unchanged. The client uninstalled the plugin, which deleted the templates along with the Romanian and Polish page duplicates. The plugin still indicated that the homepage was translated, but it was non-existent. Solution: We advised the client to first provide debug information by following the steps at https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/. We then reviewed the Polish homepage translation and recommended clearing the cache, specifically suggesting the temporary disabling of the LiteSpeed cache plugin while working on the site. We also applied troubleshooting options available in WPML > Support > Troubleshooting to address the translation issues. We confirmed that there was no need for a site restoration or retranslation as the translations were stored in the translation memory.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If further assistance is needed, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Background of the issue:
I have to reinstall the website and start again with translation. I changed the text in English, but the translation in Romanian was identical. I uninstalled the plugin to delete all the unused templates and modify the text again. The templates were deleted along with the pages/duplicates in Romanian and Polish.
Symptoms:
The plugin shows that the home page is translated but it doesn't exist.
Questions:
Is it possible to reset the word counter?
We were disconnected so I've converted the chat into a ticket so that we could follow up. Could you please share the URL of the page in question?
Also, to help speed up the support process, I've enabled a private message for submitting the debug information for this support ticket. Please follow these initial debugging steps: https://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support/
In short:
- Go to "WPML > Support > Debug Information" (link)
- Copy the Debug Information from there.
- Find the private field I activated and paste that information.
I can see the issue you had there. Looks like WPML failed to create to pages for your translated pages due to the insufficient WordPress Memory as shown here hidden link
Please check this link for more details https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/.
You can increase it by adding the following code in your wp-config.php file, right before the /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */ line:
The memory has been increased. WordPress 6.6.1, PHP 8.1.27, MariaDB 10.11.8.
Same issue with pages in Romanian and Polish language. The MENU is missing for all pages translated in the other languages. I want to install the website backup I made before to run WPML plugin. But the credit is now 42912 and will not be enough for the languages selected. Can you reset the credit?
Regards,
No, is not fixed. See attachment. Also you can browse the website from your end. Now everything is setup as requirements. I want to start in this evening with the backup website, in the stage before WPML. I am asking for the last time. Is possible to reset the word counter, and to try again? If not I have to close the account and to ask for refund. I will try another plugin.
It seems there may have been an issue with the testing on your end. Please review this screen recording hidden link that demonstrates how I completed the review for your Polish homepage translation. Make sure to clear the cache as shown; otherwise, you might see the untranslated page. I recommend temporarily disabling the LiteSpeed cache plugin while working on the site.
Since you've recently increased the server resources (WordPress Memory), future automatic translations should work correctly. I’ve also applied some troubleshooting options from WPML in WPML > Support > Troubleshooting that should resolve the translation issue.
Regarding the refund for your used credits, approximately 49k, this isn’t possible as the credits have already been utilized for translations(paid to translation systems) and are stored in the translation memory(WPML side).
There’s no need to restore the site to an earlier date or redo the translations, as the result will be the same. If you’re still unsure how to proceed, please let me know. I’m happy to assist with completing the page translations, as there aren’t many left.
