Background of the issue:
I updated some plugins today and now I am getting an error related to WPML's minimum requirements. The WordPress REST API must be enabled for WPML to work correctly. I have tried accessing the test endpoint directly in my browser, cleared all caches, checked the error logs, and deactivated WordFence, but the problem still exists. Both hidden link and hidden link give me a server error.

Symptoms:
The REST API test endpoint hidden link is not responding correctly, and I am getting a server error.

Questions:
What could be causing the REST API to not respond correctly?
How can I ensure the WordPress REST API is enabled for WPML?
What steps should I take if a security or firewall plugin is blocking REST API requests?
How do I check if the REST API has been disabled via the rest_enabled filter?
