We have developed our new website and are translating the pages. This includes saved templates. We have four languages: English, German, Spanish, and Italian. I notice, however, that there are English, German, Spanish, and Italian templates, and that each template can be translated into all the other languages. I had expected only English templates and then translations of the English template into German, Spanish, and Italian. (I'm sure that a screenshot will help clarify that statement!)

Is there any documentation that you are following? We are following the support info from the WPML site

Is there a similar example that we can see?

What is the link to your site? hidden link

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

I can understand your concern and try my best to address your concern.

When you translate a page, post, or template into another language, WPML duplicates the primary post and attaches language details and translated contents to it. This is why you're seeing templates being generated in each language.

While it's true that every template version offers an option to add or edit translations, it's important to remember that translations should always proceed from the Source language(the main language of the site) to other languages. We strongly discourage manually adjusting translations or translating from one secondary language to another. Any changes you made from/to the translated post will be removed as soon as you update the main post and its translation. As a result, you'll encounter issues while accessing the translation.

If English is your site's default language, always translate from English to other languages.

I hope I'm able to clarify things for you. But if you need further clarification or assistance, feel free to let me know. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
