Background of the issue:
I am trying to change my website language behavior from 'folders' to different domains. I bought the domain web-makeup.gr for the Greek language and created a subdomain de.web-makeup.com for the German language. All seems to be set up and pointing to the main domain.

Symptoms:
Changing the setting in WPML, I get an ok for the new Greek domain (web-makeup.gr) but an error for the subdomain.

Questions:
What else could I do to resolve the error for the subdomain?

Hi there.

Sometimes, even if it shows the red invalid notice, that might be a false positive.

So can you please add both to the WPML > Languages settings and try to save and see if it works?

Please let us know how things go.

Hi there Mihai,

thank you very much for your quick answer.

And no, unfortunately it did not work at all. Saving it like

German: hidden link
Greek: hidden link

gives me the result that the language switcher flags do not work at all anymore. Just staying on the inital English site.

Hope you still got an idea, because I really ran out of ideas. Checked everything regarding the domains and DNS. Looks all great.

Thank you very much for your effort
Regards
Thomas

Hi there again,

so in the meantime I made some more test. Now I get the German site really running with the subdomain de.web-makeup.com.

But the Greek site does not appear although the language switcher Greek flag leads to hidden link but not showing the Greek version, showing the English

Again thank you for any input on that
Regards
Thomas

I do not really want to send you too many message, but keep you updated.

Ok, now both flags on the language switcher show the correct url

German flag hidden link and
Greek flag hidden link

But both do not lead to the according language. It just stays on the English version

Thanks
Thomas
