I followed the steps outlined but WPML is still not finding the three video links that need to be translated on this page: hidden link. Of further issue on this page, the media files that have been translated are not being displayed on the Spanish version of the page in the Owl image carousel. This carousel plugin works fine on other pages.

Hi,

Could you please confirm that you're using the "WPML Media Translation" addon to translate those images?

If yes, please try the following steps:

- Edit the original page
- Make a small change and save it
- Update the translation

I have completed the suggested steps several times and it has made no difference. Yes, I am using the media translator.

Hi Brian,

I couldn't find more clues regarding this issue, I think it could be a compatibility issue with the "DP Owl Carousel Pro" plugin.

You mentioned that it works fine on other pages, please send me a link to one of those pages so I see how the images are added there.

My apologies, I was mistaken about the Owl Carousel being implemented on another page, it was implemented on the above page and had been working previously before we had issues with the video URL translations. I will A/B test another carousel plugin on a separate page and get back to you with the results

I have created a test page with three Divi image carousels: hidden link
The Divi Gear Carousel plugin (#2) specifically mentions it is compatible with WPML. All of the images are translated using the media translator.
You'll see that none of the images in the carousels are translated on the Spanish page, but a single image placed at the top of the page is translated. Please advise.

Hi,
Sorry for the late reply due to the weekend.

I have created this clean sandbox setup on our servers here:
hidden link (one-click login)

I would need you to please set up WPML + the WPML add-ons as you have them on your site (they are already installed) and also to install the Divi + the carousel and try to recreate the issue

Please don't install anything else like plugins that are not necessary, on a clean sandbox we try to use just the WPML plugins and the plugin/theme that's part of the issue

If the issue will take place on this clean setup on our servers too, then I can check with our compatibility department.

Please let me know how that goes and what you can find.

Hello,
Thanks for setting up the sandbox. I configured WPML. I added Divi, the Divi child theme and the three carousel plugins that were not working on my site. I completed media translations for the three images for test purposes. All three carousel modules translated the images. I am at a loss as to why this is not working on the live site. Any suggestions you may have to further troubleshoot in the live environment would be appreciated.

This means that it's not a compatibility issue, could you please provide us with temporary access to check again?
– preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible –

Your next answer will be private, which means only you and I have access to it.

❌ Please backup your database and website before providing us with access details ❌

✙ I would additionally need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme and to change configurations on the site if needed. This is also a reason the backup is critical.

✙ I would also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site if needed.

If you don't see the form below, please don't add your credentials as they will be publicly exposed:

I updated the translation of Alt text added for one of the carousel images to force a new scan with "Media Translation".

This fixed the issue for the carousel created with the Divi Gear Carousel plugin (hidden link)

Could you please use it to create the carousel on the hidden link page and check if the issue is resolved?

Hello
I created the carousel on the hidden link page using Divi Gear Divi Carousel for the Activity 2 section, saved it, checked the translated page, and the images were translated as should be. Great! I then added the other two carousels, for Activity 4 and Activity 8 sections, saved the page, checked the translated page and ALL three carousels showed the original English images. Not good. I tried editing the Alt text for one of the images in the media translator to force a new scan; that did not resolve the problem. Please advise.

I checked the translated page and the images are translated under Activity 4 and Activity 8 sections. Please see here: hidden link

Could you please check again on another browser?

Just for a follow-up, any time there is a minor edit on any page with a carousel, the images revert to their original version. The only way to get them to resolve to the correct images is to force a change to an image file name or alt tag that is contained within a carousel. This is incredibly time-consuming and frustrating as you can imagine. Why are the media translations in WPML so unstable?
