This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was trying to use WPML's automatic translation feature for posts but encountered issues with translations not processing.

Solution:
1. We ensured that the client's user account is set as a translator in WPML > Translation Management > Translators.
2. We noted that the client's default language is French and they were attempting to translate from English to French, which is not the standard workflow. We recommended:
- Sending the page for translation to the client's user account from WPML > Translation.
- Using the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) and clicking the automatic translation button to translate.
- Creating content in the default language and then translating it to other languages.
We provided documentation links for further guidance:
- https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/#translating-individual-pages-posts-and-other-content-automatically

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we recommend opening a new support ticket. We also highly suggest checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hi!

Ok so I went to WPML > Translations and saw the post that were still waiting for a translator. What I did is I stopped them, went back to WMPL > Translation Management and switched back to Automatic Translation. I then bulk started the translations.

Since I am now using the automatic mode the posts should translate by themselves, right? How long is the process supposed to take? Because it's now been several minutes that I have launched the thing and it is still processing.

Hello,

Please make a full backup of your site (files and database) and confirm it in your next reply.
If possible please provide access to the staging website, not production.

Please note, that I might need to do some debugging procedures like enable/disable plugins, switch themes, change the default language of the user account, and/or access your website database to debug the issue furtherly.

I will share with you any changes or steps done in this process. Please let me know if you do not agree with the above or if I do not have your permission for any.

I would need to access both your site's wp-admin and FTP account, if possible.

I have enabled the private username and password fields in your next reply.

I suggest you create a new user, set it as an administrator and then add those credentials in the private fields mentioned.

You can safely add your information into these fields.

Regards,
Drazen

If it might help, the last thing I was trying to do was to translate the english post called What Judges Want, Glenn Ball's Podcast to french. But it is forever spinning and if I go to the english page URL and then try to switch to french I end up on the homepage (I think I know what setting it causing that. I assume the translated page just isn't ready).

Hello,

thanks for gettinb back.

I checked and could see the issue.

1) Your user is not set as a translator, I have set it from WPML > Translation Management> Translator.

2) Your default language is French, but you are trying to automatic translate from EN > FR, that will not work. But you can send the page for translation to your user and click to translate from WPML > Translation. When the Advanced Translation editor ATE editor opens use the automatic translation button and translate.

- https://wpml.org/documentation/automatic-translation/#translating-individual-pages-posts-and-other-content-automatically:~:text=You%20can%20also,edit%20the%20translations.

I did that and translated your page normally.

I advise creating content in your default language website and then translating it to 2nd languages, not other way around.

Regards,
Drazen
